Do some slenderising stretches such as Classical Stretch. It makes a big difference
Hi there,
I need to lose 4-6 stubborn pounds.
I've started running again - about 3 weeks ago. I walk 30 mins, then run 30mins (at about 8miles/hr) 5-6 days a week. All that I have noticed is bulkier legs.. could this be fluid retention from running? I have been eating the same (1200-1400 calories and all healthy) and my jeans are fitting tighter! Should I go back to just walking instead? The scales havent budged (up or down) I feel that I had leaner legs then... but was burning less calories?
So confused...
Thanks,
Jenna

Hi Jenna,
If you are running that much, you're burning fat while putting on muscle.
The new muscle is what is making your legs feel bulkier. I bet if you flex them and smack them, you get no jiggles, eh?
Muscle fiber is more dense than fat. So in the same given geometric area, a mass of muscle is going to weigh more than a similar mass of fat. This would explain the lack of weight loss.
No worries, you're headed in the right direction.
I suggest an activity that would focus less on your legs. Perhaps successive elliptical or a cycling cardio sessions will stop your legs from getting more muscular, while burning the appropriate amount of calories.
Good luck.
