These past few weeks I just stayed at home and did some writing done. Anyway, the other I decided to go out and celebrate finishing two chapters of my project. I got shocked, as in totally shocked!!! I can't fit in my jeans at all. So I started working out and got sore all over. I figured I was not doing it the right way. Humbled and still raring to get fit, I decide that I might need a workout routine that can be done at home but still safe. Any ideas?

If you workout, you'd really be sore the first few weeks. It's normal. You should feel and enjoy the burn. as for the soreness, drink more water and get enough rest. Warm baths are also great.

I sobbed when I couldn't fit in my jeans, that's about three weeks ago, so I signed up in a group training. We do circuits and have varying routines per day, 3x/week. Every Friday we do fitness challenges. I always feel sore after working out since I have been sedentary for 4 months. So, don't worry.

I have a fluidity bar and that's my fall back at home it works for me. Google it if you want. But if you really want to lose faster, get with a personal trainer or at least find a group to join so you can have the support you need.

It's hard to press on if you're alone. Good luck!

I can not fit in my jeans any more either. I am a big girl and always have been, but to make matters worse - I broke both my ankles in May of 2009 and added an additional 30lbs in the three and 1/2 months that I could not get out of my bed. Now I am larger then ever with less muscles to support it. In the past month, I have started doing things (that my ankles will allow) to try to get my muscles back, loose weight, and get back into my jeans. Good Luck everyone!

Thanks for the support everyone. I'm looking for exercise videos now so can start on my workout routine. Watched Will and Grace reruns last night. I laughed when I saw the one where Grace tried getting freebie personalized training and it turns out the exercise was completely not suitable for her body type.

try to get involved with more physical activities like cardio exercises. I exactly know how you feel. I also have that trouble and worries when I don't fit my clothes but a healthy diet and good exercise will solve your problem in no time.

exercisetv (on cable and on the internet) has tons of good videos that you can do at home.

Putting on your fav jeans and then realizing that you can't get them buttoned is a terrible feeling. I'm going through it now myself. Try to get in some good cardio. I bought a jump rope and sometimes jump rope while watching TV or listening to music. Another good at home remedy is stairs. Try running up and down the stairs or just use the bottom step and go up and down on that one step a bunch of times. Both activities will get your heart rate up as well as work the leg and butt area. Make sure to do a good stretch before and after. The stretch will hurt so good and also alleviate some of the soreness. Also, like Cat said, drink plenty of water... hydration is so important while working out.
    Good luck!

It's very typical to be sore when you first start a workout. Is it pain or soreness you are experiencing? If it's pain. Stop. Soreness is normal.
Just keep burning calories by doing something to get your heart rate up and your breathing just above the point you have to breath from your mouth.
You need to burn 3500 calories to loose a pound a week. Breaking it down by the day means burn 250 calories doing an exercise and refrain from eating 250 calories each day.
If eating 3 times a day eat meals with about 400 calories. Or eat small meals with 80 calories 5 times a day to rev metabloism. Eating more times during a day and exercise will improve your metabolism.
