    Default Leg weight!?

Become a member to remove this ad.
So, I am looking for advice on the best excersizes or activities to do that will help me lose weight off my legs. I seem to put all my weight on my thighs down to my toes (cankles! haha). Typically I work out 3 times a week, doing 45 ellyptical and 45 weights and ball work, and do yoga once.
    Any suggestions?

What is your diet like? Unfortunately, you can't 'spot lose' weight. Fat is fat, no matter where it is on your body. And you need to burn more calories than you eat to burn the fat off.

Have to agree w/ SP here, no way to spot-lose fat. Genetics make me carry my lard in my thighs and - a real pain! You have to combine exercise with calorie control, kind of a 'yen/yang' thing.
For me, the hard part is limiting calorie intake. I love exercise and hate to miss even one day from the gym. But I can always take in more cal.s than I burn up.

For me, i enjoy running, because it helps work everything. Whether it ne on a treadmill or outside. I also like weight lifting and yoga. if you can find excersizes you like and work them in a rotation thats comfortable, then you should have no problem getting fit. consistency is key as well, so make sure its constant.
As for food intake I recommend you just start buying healthier foods that have less calories to begin with that way when you do eat you're not forced to eat something that sabotages your exersize. Organic foods are expensive but they are completely worth it. Also buy fruits and vegetables, if its pasta try whole wheat, if you like juice always go with 100%. and if you cant tell what it is by reading the ingredient list, then you shouldnt be eating it.

Yea, as noted above, our bodies lose fat in a genetically predetermined pattern. Generally, our problems areas will be the last area we lose from. Just remember, we need to be in an energy (calorie) deficit if we're going to lose fat. All the exercise in the world won't cause fat loss if we're eating too much.

Diet needs to be a priority.

I think along with the less calories, the calories you are taking in need to be the right kind of foods...fruits and veggies for carbs, lean protein and unsaturated fats. I think you can "tone" in concentrated areas. The best thing that works is to mix up your exercise, cross train and eat the right low calorie diet.

What do you mean, "tone in concentrated areas"?

And yea, I would agree... it's not only quantity, but quality too, that matters. Put differently, calories always count, but the foods that comprise said calories also make a big difference.

    Sorry but not so.

Calories are calories. You could eat 100 cals of pure fat, or 100 cals of pure carbs or 100 cals of pure protein...and you know what...it's still only 100 cals that your body will burn at the same rate your BMR dictates.

When it comes to losing fat, don't worry so much about the composition of the foods you eat....it'll just confuse you...count the calories.

Now...that isn't to say that it isn't more healthy overall to eat a balanced combination of nutrients/fats/proteins/carbs.....because it is.

But if your number one goal is losing fat, count calories, not compositions.
