Hello ladies, I need some serious help with my belly fat! I’m 28 years old with no children, but I have a big stomach pouch that won’t go away. I’ve had this tummy fat since highschool and it looks like im pregnant! Ive tried dieting and sit ups with no luck!

I’m 5’2 and 112 pounds. My waistline measures at 27 inches and I wear a size 5 in junior department clothes and a 2 in Misses department clothes.

I eat very small portions. I eat fast food once a week, like a cheese burger and small fries. Other than that I rarely eat meat, bread, chips, or junk food, I don’t drink pop or alcohol…. I use the washroom on a regular basis. I drink about 5 cups of water a day. Why do I look so bloated and how do I get a flat tummy?????????? I don’t want to lose weight and I love eating, so starvation diets are not an option lol.

For breakfast, I eat 1 raisin bagel or a serving of oatmeal and coffee with 1 raw sugar. I also eat a teaspoon of flax seeds.

Lunch I’ll have halve of a personal pizza, and that’s about 12 grams of fat.

Dinner I may have chili with turkey meat…sometimes ground turkey tacos and baked fries.

Here’s some pictures of my tummy, so tell me what you think!!!!! Oh and excuse my skin ash…..I forgot to lotion up lol.

So please tell me what is the best and easiest way to get rid of this tummy???

FAT may not be the real problem. I know some ppl who are just lazy and push their stomach out , but not on purpose. You really need to work on 'sucking it in'; when you walk , when you sit , all the time! It excersizes your stomach muslces , will flatten it out , and maybe even give you improved posture .

I don't see that as fat, rather bloated

I suspect that you may suffer from IBS, which bloats your stomach and chilli is one thing said to help cause that.

Also, chilli, pizza, bagels, fries...where is there any nutrition?

I would change my diet. You need vegetables, salads, tuna, fish, chicken, not the types of foods your body is eating, your body doesn't agree with what you are putting into it, in my opinion.

Also if you stoop a little, your stomach will look bigger, so posture is also a key.

Sit ups is also something to strengthen your stomach muscles.

Water is also a must to help, but ultimately, I suspect your body is not liking the "junk" food your putting into it and is rejecting it, bloating out, and creating IBS.

Do you also feel sometimes a little fatigued? Upset tummy? ..

Just me, but if I ate a bagel and/or a pizza, let alone both....my stomach would be huge. That much refined flour will definitely make you bloated. And like CW said, no nutrition in those foods.

You'd be much better served having fruit and yogurt for breakfast and a salad with chicken or tuna sandwich for lunch.

It's quite a common body shape. The cause is eating wrong food and not enough exercise.
Even if you eat little the body stores fat around your belly. I don't know the long explanation but it's there cause of body's 'hunger panic' - it's just the body's survival kit, fat on belly.
Eat healthy food and work out so that the fat can either be forced towards the energy or just layered all over the body.

This actually works. I have two kids and honestly you can't even tell that I have kids. I also use slimming belts/camisoles under my clothes. Running sprints will also help you lose that hidden fat.

Your diet is fine..except too much salt. You may want to cut down on that.

If you have fat collection around your midsection it is simply the cause of too many calories.

You need to create a caloric deficit so that your body starts burning this stored fat as energy.

Cut out the fast food and start exercising at least every other day. Unfortunately, it appears that the lower midsection is the first place to collect fat in females and the last place to lose it, so it may be a while before you start noticing results. Stick with it and you'll be fine.

Even if you aren't carrying excess fat, regular exercise is still needed to promote excellent overall health.

Also, as far as situps, they are for toning muscle, not burning fat like cardio exercise. So you may be doing yourself a disservice by building muscle on your stomach...it could cause your stomach to look even bigger.

    Good luck.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a very healthy height/weight proportion. I watch what I eat. I exercise. And I still look pregnant ALL THE TIME. I get really sick of people asking when I'm due. I tell them not for 5 years...lol.

BUT, the point is that I'm healthy. Not all women are made the same. The ideal body image society feeds us is so twisted. Here's an interesting set of facts from (edit):

    1. The average American woman is 5’4” tall and weighs 140 pounds. The average American model is 5’11” tall and weighs 117 pounds. The photo above, although taken in the Netherlands, demonstrates this pretty well.

    2. The average size of the “ideal” woman, as portrayed by models, has become progressively thinner over the years and has stabilized at around 20% below the average weight. This thin ideal is unachievable for most women. A 1995 study found that three minutes spent looking at models in a fashion magazine caused 70% of women to feel depressed, guilty, and ashamed.

    3. It is estimated that 40-50% of American women are trying to lose weight at any point in time.

    4. One out of every four college aged women has an eating disorder.

    5. Almost half of all women smokers smoke because they see it as the best way to control their weight. Of these women, 25% will die of a disease caused by smoking. Models often smoke to control their appetite.

    6. At age thirteen, 53% of American girls are “unhappy with their bodies.” This grows to 78% by the time girls reach seventeen.

    7. In a sample of male and female high school students, girls had higher body dissatisfaction scores than boys on all measures. Girls reported magazines as their primary source of information regarding diet and health. Boys reported their parents as their primary source of information. These are the typical messages girls can expect to get from women’s magazines:

    8. A majority of girls in a 1999 study (59 percent) reported dissatisfaction with their body shape, and 66 percent expressed a desire to lose weight. Only 29 percent of the girls were overweight.

    9. At 5′9” tall and weighing 110 lbs, Barbie would have a BMI of 16.24 which is considered severely underweight. Because of her ridiculous proportions (39” bust, 18” waist, 33” thighs and a size 3 shoes!), if she was a real woman, she wouldn’t be able to walk upright – she would have to walk on all fours. Note that the target market for Barbie Doll sales are girls ages 3 to 12.

    10. Nearly 11.7 million cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures were performed in the United States in 2007. Women had nearly 10.6 million cosmetic procedures, 91% percent of the total

Also, for what it's worth, (edit) is an amazing website. I know you said you're not a mother (neither am I), but it really gives me a reality check about what real women look like. Even the before images don't have perfect flat stomachs. Give it a shot.

I think it would be helpful to maybe spend some more attention on your core. Not just traditional sit-ups. Pilates and exercise balls, for example, can help you get the other ab muscles than the rectus abdominus that traditional sit-ups get. That might help a little. Be sure to work your legs (quads/hamstrings/glutes) and back to help with your posture so your abs don't get proportionally stronger.

The name of the website, which you can find on your own, is Shape of a Mother. They're on Facebook, too.
