Hi, this is a question for women who do combat sports and are with men who are not involved in combat sports themselves. My girlfriend does jiujitsu and sports since age 4 as a result she is very strong (and skilled in jiujitsu of course), although she said that her doctor noticed a lot of testosterone, so that might play a role too.
I did yoga since I was 6, so I am very flexible, but started lifting weights at 18 and I am about 200lbs now.

When we met she did things like doing squats with me on her back and when we were together she usually took the initiative and the leading/active part, generally manhandling me and being very dominating using her strentgh and skills.
At first I was uhm surprised she could do that, although I tried to resist, but I must say I kind of enjoy experiencing the "girl" part sometimes now, so that is not the problem.

She would say things like, you are such a girl sometimes. Soo I was curious, if any of you girls do martial arts, does it bother you if your partner does not do combat sports himself and you could toy with him if you wanted to ? Would that be a deal breaker in the long run ?

I am a boxer, but so is my boyfriend. My ex was the opposite of active to say the least. For me, it's more about lifestyle than a specific sport/fitness/strength.

I'm into Tae Kwan Do and yoga/pilates until I strained my collarbone that I had to stop for a while. I will get back where I left off by early June (hopefully). I have been a gymnast since I was 6 and this actually spurred my passion for martial arts. I also would venture on Aikido if its available in my new area (but not).

My husband has not participated in any comabt sports (not that I know of), but he is very interested in pursuing Aikido. Maybe we'll do it together sometime - that would be fun. I once dragged him to my yoga class and he loved it.

I don't mind if my partner doesn't do any of those really, but it is a great plus because we can share the same sports/activities. Sometimes we play fight - it actually becomes one of our bonding moments. For me, it is what I love and can de-stress with and stay fit. It is not a requirement for my husband to do it, but if he wants to, I would encourage him to do so.
