    Default Workout; Day vs. Night?

Is there any particular time of day that is ideal for exercise? Due to my work and general busy day life, I do most of my exercise in the evening. Is this going to affect my body and how it adapts during my exercises?

I predominately workout at night as well.
I don't have the time during the day and in the summer, the heat zaps what little energy I have so I don't have the urge to workout during the day. Some days I will go for a walk early in the day or later in the evening before the sun sets but other than that my workouts are at night.

A lot of people with busy schedules just wake up earlier in the morning and do their workouts then. They say it wakes them up and gives them energy for the day. I've personally never done this as I love my sleep...

Workouts in the evening might give some people sleep trouble, as working out boosts your energy level... But I too do this during the evening, meh, whatever works for you I guess...

The best time to workout is when it's best for you. If you pick a time that you aren't motivated to be out of bd, or you don't have time, you're less likely to work out. If 7pm is best for you or if midnight is best for you, the important thing is that you're exercising.

I've heard working out during the day before breakfast is most effective and working out late at night throws off your sleeping habits.

There is some thought that areorobic exercise (endurance training, running and other exercises designed to build stamina) are bes tin the morning while anarobic exercise (designed to build muscle mass- weight training etc) is best in the evening and does not disrupt sleep patterns. I have found after the initial 'rush" of lifting goes away i crash bigtime and sleep comes easy.

Haha Mes_T, I love my sleep too. I've never had problems sleeping after my workout, quite the opposite. I'm tired enough that I'm ready for sleep once the initial rush dies down. I've been working on a dvd workout; Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred. It's intense, I definitely recommend it to anyone who doesn't have the privilege of a gym.

When i was a member of a gym i used to go early (as this was the only time it wasn't mega busy) and i did find it gave me tonnes of energy for the rest of the day. I don't think it made a difference to the weight i lost or the toning i did (ie. i'd say i would've lost as much weight and toned up as much even if i had gone last thing at night) but it did help my energy levels.

    I love my sleep though
