Personally, I think pedometers are junk. They are so inaccurate that you're better off saving your money. The only device worth getting is a garmin and those are hella expensive.
I would like to find an accurate pedometer that does not cost me $100-$300 which is what I see for a lot of them because many have built in heart rate monitors, GPS's, etc.
I found a website called the Daily Mile (website is just daily mile (no spaces) dot com) that allows you to map your runs, calculate distances, and share with others etc. Great site, but not all the areas I run in are picked up on the maps.
Any recommendations for pedometers?

Really? Arrrgh. Hmm. I was looking at a Tech 4 o Accelerator this morning...got pretty decent reviews and costs around 40ish.

Why do you want one?
Just get out and run, pyramid for a better calorie burn if that is what you want. You map your routes so you have a 3, 4, 5, 7 mile choice. You can tell how your body is responding and feeling.

I'm competitive with myself. When I can go somewhere where the mileage is marked off, I do SO much better and push myself harder. When I'm running and dont know how far I've gone etc, I don't do as well. In my subdivision there are lots of little roads, turn here or there, turn this way or that way, wind around and end up here or there....... it's also not accessible on any maps so I can't really map the mileage. I have gotten in my car and driven out a route before but there were SO many turns to get to a mile (the roads are very short) and then I'd have one route (which got quite boring). However, I'd MUCH rather run in my neighborhood so I don't have to drive somewhere just to run.
I dunno, I don't really need one I don't guess.![]()
I agree with sp, I HATE pedometers, they are never ever accurate.
I did buy a new HRM this weekend that I absolutely LOVE!!! No chest band either, which irritate my skin after a while.

I use google maps and just set the points. Have you tired mapmyrun?
That's a good idea, BD, you should check that website out. I haven't used it for an actual run, but I have played around in it, it's pretty cool.

You can check out google maps pedometer, it's pretty accurate. That or invest in a Garmin 205 for around $120.
Definitely gonna check it out. My prob is that my neighborhood doesn't pick up on most maps, and that's usually where I like to run mostly cause it's convenient.I'll check it out though, thanks!!!
