Womens Nike Air Max+ 2011 is the shoe Im interested in buying. I was wondering if anyone had a better suggestion. I am still walking more than I am running at the moment, but I do try to run 1 mile each day at the minimum.
At 40 yrs old, 6' tall ,166 pounds , I'm looking for something that will give me the maximum support and can protect me from injury. Also I have always run into the problem of needing a wider shoe.

    Any suggestions will most appreciated

I am a HUGE fan of Asics. They seem to be a bit more roomier than the Nike's I've tried and the moment I put a pair on I sigh and my feet always feel wonderful immediately.

However, with that said, I firmly believe in not buying running shoes online and always buying them from a storefront that you can actually go in and try them on, run/walk around the store, etc. To me there shouldn't be a break in period for running shoes, if you don't feel you could run or walk a marathon in them the moment you have first laced them up, move on and pick another pair.

So, IMO, you should take recommendations lightly, especially with running shoes. We all have different needs, go to a running store or a sporting goods store, try on multiple pairs. You will know the moment you put your feet in the right pair.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the crotch of the person who screws up your day and may their arms be too short to scratch.

Go to a running store specifically. They can take into account the way your feet roll and can get you a correct pair of shoes. I went through three or four shoes before I went into a running store and found out I had a significant roll when I walked or ran. I now have good shoes and no pain!
