Darling, can you explain the Insanity plan? I'm not familiar with it.

But just in general as I'm sure you know, diet "plans" (and "drinks" especially) can be questionable. Sometimes they are much less healthy for you than a balanced, lean meal plan you would make for yourself.

Insanity is a fitness program similar to p90X. It's all the rave right now and gets pretty good reviews, though I don't know anything about the drinks and diet (pretty skeptical of those things...).

I love the program the work outs are great I've never stuck to a work out, but this one is different, im already seeing my body change, I'm stronger and becoming tone!!!! its awesome!
They say i should be drinking a recover drink and my friend is drinking a power.. mix of something for energy.. but it all makes me nervous... what is a recovery drink? Couldn't i drink a special k protein shake instead?
Wouldn't exercising alone be good for you, and give you energy?

The program is hard, it pushes you to a level that makes you want to give up and takes you a bit further before slowing down, everyday i do it i push myself harder and i feel amazing! I recommend it to anyone that is looking for a fun, hard, and exciting work out. Its a 60 program and I'm already feeling better after nearly 2 weeks!

That's awesome Darling! But I'm with you on the diet portion of it... I'd say follow your gut instinct on that one and just stick to the exercise routine that is working so well for you! The problem with those "eating plans" is, what are you supposed to do when the 60 day program is over? Keep eating that way forever? IMO, it is better to just stick to healthy eating options that are all your own... no fancy drinks necessary!

Energy or recovery drinks are by no means required after an intense workout. You would probably get just as much out of a glass of lowfat choc milk, and maybe with a peice of fruit if you're feeling famished after the day's workout.

I heard that if you do the diet along with the workout, you'll be in shape within about 60 days. If you don't do the diet, it'll take a bit longer, but you'll still get in shape. I've heard 90 days without the diet. It is hard though. First time I did it, I could barely get through the warm ups. I keep getting better each day. But I am not doing the diet. I am just going to hope that between insanity, and Zumba...I get somewhere.

Now we are talking about something I Know about lol. Insanity is great. Just started week 6 myself. Insanity is designed to tone and not build muscle but more so to drop body fat. The high interval nature of it ensures that this is accomplished in a reletively short time and that is not a bad thing. Diet! Diet is 80% of a healty fit lifestyle. You are amping up your body with these workouts. Your body is like a machine. And like a race car vs a mini van, you would put premium fuel, oil, tires, etc in it. The word diet in and of itself often carries a negative connotation simply beacuse many believe it is synonomous with borderline starvation and or unhealthy practices. A Healty diet as is suggested by the Insanity program consists of not only the proper ratio combination of good fats, carbs, and protein but the timing of consumption in relation to your workout time. Do you Need to follow THE diet plan? No. But you Should a plan very similar and with the basic foundation of it. The 30-90 minutes following your workout is critical. Your muscles are screaming for nutrients at that time. Post workout drinks (low sugar) right after and a healthy dose of protein shortly after that so as not to breakdown and lose muscle as you lose fat. Google and read up on this. It is Very important. I hope this helps:-)

Sorry, just read this part. NO. Do NOT drink an energy drink AFTER a workout by NO means. While your heart is racing? Oh no dear! A recovery drink again will simply be like a G2 (low sugar) Gatorade and or maybe some protein. Or fruit as someone suggested. I'd be very carful with "energy" drinks.
