Oh and any suggestions on making the routine as balanced as possible also welcome haha.
Are there any gurus of female fitness here who can help with this?
I'm supposed to be making her a new workout plan, but all my experience is in training for football and boxing, I don't know much about women's fitness, like which exercises are best for girls and how much is advisable, so I need some tips and pointers here.
She's 19, fit generally, goes to the gym 4 times a week on average, but feels her workout has possibly hit a plateau and needs a shakeup as she loses concentration at points and doesn't end up pushing herself hard enough, slacks off a bit etc.
I'll list what she does already. If any of you can suggest modifications, change arounds and especially new things I could put in it would be appreciated. Areas she wants to target and trim more are hips and stomach so although I know that bodyfat isn't burned locally (and she doesn't have much anyway) any suggestions on how to trim in that area also would be cool. Possibly more core exercises?
Thankyouu. :-)
Starts with treadmill for 10 minutes - 3 minutes uphill fast walking, then 5 minutes running on flat, remaining 2 minutes uphill walking then slowing down
2 sets of 12 reps (21kg) on the low row
2 sets of 12 reps (21kg) leg lift machine (not sure what it's called)
10 reps of triceps dips
Approx 20 sit-ups
12 leg curls
10-20 sit up twists
10 minutes on cross-trainer
REPEATS THE WEIGHTS AND CORE EXERCISES
10 minutes on bike (low level)
REPEATS WEIGHTS AND CORE EXERCISES
REPEATS TREADMILL FROM THE START OF WORKOUT
Oh and any suggestions on making the routine as balanced as possible also welcome haha.
Hi M..
Just a thought here... women do football training, women box, and women pay a lot of money to have some trainer in a gym or join a class to do that sort of training. It's just as good for them as it is for any man. I do Kickboxing and Bootcamp classes at my gym and I LOVE them.. wish I had someone around that would train me in those areas for free
She wants you to give her a new routine, something to spice stuff up and get her off the plateau she's on so I think you should use your expertise and do some fitness football/boxing drills with her. Given the amount of exercise she's already capable of I think it would be a great change of pace for her - she can do it and she'll have to focus and work hard. Talk to her about it, see if she's receptive to the idea.
And you're absolutely right - she can't spot-trim any fat off her tummy and hips. If she wants to lose it, she's going to have to lose body fat as a whole.
Best of luck!
