That depends entirely on what your fitness goals are and what your current health restrictions are.

All in all, walking is good for you and any amount of movement is better than being sedentary when it comes to staying fit. But if you're looking to really get fit, walking isn't enough. You would need to incorporate some sort of cardiovascular exercise and strength training.

It's not just walking, but the distance you do and the terrain you cover. If you are just trying to get fit, it can be a complete exercise. Do some upper body stretching and maybe shadow boxing to work on the upper body. Even consider carrying light dumbbells. Make sure there is at least one long, moderate hill in your walk. You probably want to do at least 5 miles a day to have a good fitness regime. It will not make you muscled everywhere as most of the exercise is to the legs, thighs, buttocks and to a lesser degree the waist.

It depends on how much you do and where you do it. I do a lot of walking everyday except in the summer because my dorm is far away from everything AND I go to a school that is literally in the Catskills, so walking up hills and stairs is common. At the end of the day I do feel like my legs got a good workout.

I go on at least one 30 min walk a day, but sometimes I go twice. Usually in the morning, after I have had my coffee and oatmeal, I go for a 30 min walk with the dogs. It's a trail behind the house that varies in up hill, down hill, and straights. I get my heart rate up and enjoy the fresh air. Walking is a wonderful exercise, especially if you have bad knees (like me) and can't run too much. What's important is you are getting off your butt and moving.

    Is walking good? Yes.

Do we need to put some more efforts to stay fit?

Depending on your fitness level, and your goals, potentially. Some people are healthy and set with walking, but there is a plateau and your body won't lose more than what it can with walking alone. You will either have to increase your walking time, the difficulty(hills/hiking) and/or adjust your calorie consumption.

Although all the cardio exercises are the good but walking is one of the best exercise to reduce the weight of the body because there is a less chance of injuries. It also helpful to increase the stamina.

Walking is a great way to stay healthy it's not that intense on the body as running or an aerobics dvd. if you got a nice place too take a stroll you'll probably enjoy it if really want to, try intervals walking slow for 3 minutes then a faster pace for 30 seconds keeps the metabolism heated up a bit more.
