Default Miss America 2012 = Reality?

    Hi Everyone,
as you know I have this goal to get in really good shape and become toned and the best I can look. But tonight I was watching Miss America 2012 and saw tons of fit bodies with gorgeous abs and I have to wonder if that is reality. I mean can a normal person without a trainer obtain that goal? I worked out twice a day this summer and did ab exercises everyday and my doctor told me I had the best abs he's ever felt... i know creepy right but no sign of any six packs. So I guess I am feeling a little discouraged and wonder if this is an actual obtainable goal for me. If you have any comments, suggestions, or advice I would love to hear it. Thanks for listening.

Welcome to the world of make up and camera effects. No it is not as real as you would hope. A lot of that image has make up effects, camera angles, and HD shots to make the body seem to be a lot more outrageously gorgeous than it really it. Those women, though beautiful, are still everyday women. They have their blemishes, age spots, in grown hairs, pimples, and unwanted isolated fat spots. That is just how the body goes. A regular women, regular as in not Miss America lol, who has a toned body will be just as fit as Miss America. Miss America will be doing her work out routines, and extreme dieting (sometimes to the unhealthy point), but the healthier woman is the one in the local fitness gym with her doctor saying her abs are perfect. That is a healthy tone, that is the ideal way you want things. One can be inspired by Miss America, nothing wrong with that, however one must understand that her image is a creation for the purpose of selling beauty and that contestant may not be as healthy as you think due to that incredibly slim body.

While I do have access to personal trainers, I did not use them for my ab challenge I gave myself last year.
You can see below, that I did see significant results in a 90 day period, but not a 6 pack.

By the end of my three months, I was at the gym 3 hours a day, 5 days a week.
I only focused on my abs 3 of those days, for 30min max, and light moves on the off days. Exhaustion at the end of 30min prevented me from going further. It takes a lot of drive.

Could I have had a 6 pack if I had kept with it? Yes, but I was content at the end of 3 months, I didn't need to continue.

Wow thanks ladies! Those are both motivating responses and amazing results! I guess I was just feeling a little down on myself last night after watching that. Congrats on all of your fitness successes and keep up the good work. I will post before and after pictures in about 3 months. Thanks for your inspiration and support.

Just googled Miss America. Now I wonder...... Miss New York is a Katie Monte, would that be our kmonte by any chance?? Wow, would WH be so lucky....

I actually thought that Miss World was the healthiest looking of the contestants with a bit more weight than the others and lovely curves. Yeah, I know some is down to effects, but she still looked stunning. Well done.

Well, Kmonte Lists WI as her home state, the state that did win the title, but Miss Wisconsin is Laura Kaeppeler.

We make our own reality to certain extent. I don't think getting a six pack is unattainable, it may just take some time and lots of effort. As long as you are healthy and feel like you are the best you that's what counts. Everyone is beautiful in their own way- all shapes all sizes.

I'm sure if every woman had a team of stylists, trainers, make up artists then we'd all be knockouts round the clock. That is the part that's all an illusion.

The reason I asked about the ab thing was because I heard you had to have less than 10% BMI to have abs actually show up. Does anyone know if that's true or not?
