Unhappy hip pain...help!

Hello all,

I need some advice about walking and hip pain. I am 47 years old and have been walking regularly for years. About 6 weeks ago, my husband and I took a normal walk...about 5 miles on a fairly flat asphalt bike path. I was wearing some new running shoes. I experienced no pain while I walked, however, later that evening my right hip started to seize up and be very painful whenever I walked. Since then, I have pain and stiffness at all times (when i'm moving around) and especially after walking any distance. I obviously think that those shoes must have caused some injury. My question is this...apart from ibuprophen, not wearing those shoes, and stretching before walking....is there anything else that I can do to speed healing and most importantly, should I keep walking? Any advice or input would be so appreciated!

Default

Don't walk for a few days. Take IBuprophen and ice it.
Walking kill my hips but for some reason jogging is fine. I'm always more sore after a long walk than a run.

Default Soreness

Try laying on your left side at night, or when the pain is worse, with a pillow between your legs. Alternate ice with moist heat 15 on 15 off... Soaking in the tub with a cup full of epsom salts, or a sports soak, (found at Walmart, Kmart, and Target.) Muscle rubs didn't help me too much, but you could give them a try. They do make them without the smell now...
Hope it helps.... Take care
