I am a member of my local Y, and I really enjoy it. They are helpful if you have a question. Also, if there is a problem with a machine (like a sqweeky nosie that annoys everyone in the room) they will have it fixed. Another positive thing is that they have this AWAY program. You can go to almost any YMCA and workout. I live in GA, but vacation in IN and can go to both gyms. If you just want to try it out, you can pay 3-6 dollars for a day and go look around, or go with someone who has a membership and get 6 guest passes. Do you have any specific questions?

Yes, we below to the YMCA in VA and love it. My husband joined just to use the treadmill and "manly" equipment. I'm more into the yoga/step classes. It's been great. I love that you can go to any Y, like the previous person said. We have a bunch in our area and each one has different schedules of classes. Also, we have 2 kids and the childwatch has been great. The best part is not being locked into a contract.

A tip for you, if you are considering it you can go take a tour and just tell them you can't make up your mind. We did that and they gave us a free 2 week pass. Maybe your Y will do the same and you can check it our for free.
