Default Laberal tear in the hip

I was wondering if anyone else has had this sort of injury? I am 27 years old and in great physical shape. I have had hip pain for the last 18 months, and finally went to the Dr. in January to find out what was causing it. I was sent to an ortho. and had an arthrogram with MRI done. I just got the results and the Dr. said it was a laberal tear. He said I have 2 options: Deal with pain, or have surgery to correct the issue.

Has anyone had this kind of surgery? Did it help? I am really tired of having limited physical activity. Plus I have three kids to keep up with which can be a challenge with my hip pain.

Any advice or expierience would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Default Torn Labrum

Hi, I just read your post & had to join to reply.
Yes, I had a torn labrum & had surgery in 2006.Hip Arthroscopy.
What a relief! I suffered with the tear for 3 years before I finally
found a doc. When I woke up. I was IMMEDIATLY pain free. I only
wish I had done it earlier. I live in the Texas Panhandle, but check
online for a doctor in Denver, Co. I don't remember his name, but
he perfected the surgery & doctors all over the world fo there to train
w/ him. The recovery was very intense, I wore a hip to knee brace
& used crutches for 2 weeks also was on an electronic knee bender
at night (CPM). I was off work only 1 week & I am an orthopedic
nurse working in a hospital. VERY busy.
2 years later I am about 80%. Knowing that I woildn't be 100% again,
I am satisfied. I am now back to the gym (thats how I injured in the
first place). So far So good. I will no be running ever again!!
Good luck. Don't put off surgery.

My husband just had his second surgery on a torn rotar cuff and let me tell you that is a rough surgery...He has had both knee's replaced, from football early in life, but this was far worse...Now I have to go through therapy and the pain of learning to raise his arm again...The one before this was really rough as he had a hard time reattaching whatever it is that he attaches it too. They really need drugs with this surgery for a while...It is rough...He will not be able to lift over 15 pounds when he is able...This goes for each arm....
