Default Couch to 5k running program

i have just completed week one of this 8 week program and loving it, anyone else here doing this (or has graduated from the program)?

C25k is a graduated running program designed to get you off the couch and moving, it starts with little intervals of walking and running, which will gradually increase over time (more running less walking). there are even weekly free podcasts to download and listen to while doing the run, so you don't have to keep checking the watch.

if you want to know more just google it and you will find the sites.

Thankyou for posting about this! I've just read a few websites about it, I'm definitely going to be trying it!

I started today! I feel really good.
I'm doing it with my mum. She's doing the weight watchers diet and I'm like her personal trainer. I make sure she goes to meetings, counts up her points correctly and does her dvds/goes for walks etc. I just want to say; I'm not forcing her. She's been unhappy with her weight for years and she said she couldn't do it by herself and she asked me to help her by making sure she did things right and encouraging her.
Anyway I told her about this program and she said she'd like to do it too. We both like that you start off slowly. We've tried running before but stop because we can't do it for long so this plan is perfect.
I used to live in a town but now I live further out and there are some lovely walks around where I live. So today we started off by going around the grounds. I'm really looking forward to the next run. It's encouraging me to eat more healthy too just because I feel so good after.

wow Autumn, that is fantastic , and running with a partner is always a bonus. i have completed Day 2 of Week 2 yesterday, went on a different track and found it quite manageable, it DOES get easier. i found visualisations really help me stay focussed and keep me going.

are you using the podcasts or are you timing yourself with a watch?
i found the podcasts helpful, although the music isn't really my kind but it serves its purpose. using a HRM and found that once my HR goes above 150 i start to wear out, so have to pace myself carefully.

looking forward to hearing about your progress

I haven't used a podcast yet, I'm just using a stopwatch but I will try a podcast just to see what it's like.
Day 3 of week one tomorrow.
My mum is telling all her friends about it and a friend of hers has asked me to print off some info so she can do it too.
I'm so glad you posted this. I kept saying I will do some exercise and get fit but I kept putting off, and to have a plan that tells you what to do, when and for how long is just what I need.

so glad you and others are getting something out of it too
i completed my Week 2 Day 3 today, really paced myself well to keep the HR below 150 and it went well, i had a blast. the podcast for that week is awesome, brazilian flavour, since i am a drummer and wanna be percussionist i feel so inspired by the groove, hope no one is watching as i start to groove while i am doing the walking part
have DL week three and looking forward to starting it day after tomorrow.

anyone else joining in?

I started week 2 today. I thought 90 seconds of jogging would kill me but it actually wasn't bad at all. I'm bursting with energy!

Default Week 3 Day 2

quite a step up from week 2 but manageable as long as it is not uphill
two three minute running segments inbetween walking... first day was tough, as always it gets better...

will complete week 3 tomorrow... onwards and upwards
