Unhappy Am I going to be bald?

Hey everyone. I'm 19 yrs old and my hair is super fine and falls out constantly. Not like clumps but I'm just constantly shedding. I'm not under any insane amount of stress or anything and I've always just regularly shed. It's hard to look good or style my hair cause it's so thin and flat that it doesn't hold curl, lift, anything. People tell me to just blow dry it but I don't want to cause heat damage to my hair on top of everything else... So, flat, thin, fine, medium length, boring hair. Will I be bald by 30 at this rate? Is there even a way to make it thicker at my age? I would never get extensions or fake hair put in unless I was bald, but right now I'm just trying to prevent that. Thanks for any tips/advice.

Everyone sheds hair every day.
Why not get into a good stylist and talk to them? Not the gum snapper at the cheepie hair cuts place. When I wanted a change a few years ago (donated 13 inches to locks of love) I started off with someone a freind recommended and wasn't very happy.

Tried several other places and finally bit the bullet financially and went to my old salon to see one of the top sylists in the metrop. Huge difference! Once I had what I wanted, I got someone less expensive to maintain it.

But here's the trick, if they know their stuff, they have studied not just how to cut and color hair, but facial structure, body type, lifestyle and take all that into consideration. Have an idea of what you like, pictures if possible, take those along.

Tell the stylist what your needs are; hair that looks fuller and has some lift, not making it dry or brittle, let them tell you what your best options are for your facial structure and life style. If you hate what they suggest you don't have to do it. If it's a really different hairstyle, you might try to find a wig shop where you can get an idea of what it would really look like.

Has your hair always been this thin, or is this something relatively recent?

I went through a period of 2 years during college of epic, epic hair loss. After a doctor told me that I'd be bald by age 24 and to just suck it up, I thought there was nothing I could do. And then...

... I went off the birth control pill. And a couple of months later, BOOM, my hair had begun to recover. Are you on birth control pills by any chance? Hair loss is a very rare side effect, but it CAN and DOES happen.

Otherwise, are you on a relatively healthy diet?

Yeah, I don't think the pill is causing it. That's awful of the doctor to say that though. I've always had super thin fine hair. I would say my diet is relatively healthy. I eat home cooked Italian meals and have a good bit of fruit in my diet. I don't know what everyone would consider a healthy diet though.

I wouldn't worry. You should see the amount of my g/f's hair is picked up in the vacuum on a weekly basis. It's ridiculous.

If you want to blow dry your hair with a minimal amount of damage, use a leave in conditioner. That should help.

Leave in conditioner is a mild product that you put in your hair after you wash it....and you don't rinse it out. You leave it in. Hence "leave in."

Ohhhh. haha. I was like... "I put a leaf in my conditioner?" Do they say "Leave in" on the container somewhere? Or can I just get a regular conditioner and leave it in?

Definitely get one that says "leave-in" on the label!

Also, if your hair has always been like this, there's no reason to think it's going to get worse and you're gonna go bald anyway.
