    Default Bra size calculators

I am wearing 34C bras from a İntimissimi or Victoria's Secret.
My under bust measurement is 74 cm and over bust measurement is 88 cm.But why do I get results 34A or 34B from calculators. I was confused and then I decided to check two models' bra sizes with big breasts Bar Refaeli and Marisa Miller because their measurements can be found easily on the net and I wanted to be sure.
    34D-23-35 (US)
    86.5-58-89 (EU)

So these are Marisa Miller's measurements. She is known to be 34 D but she needs to have a 92 cm bust to wear 34D or 90 cm bust to wear 34C.But she has only 87 cm bust. Or else even if she wears 32 size band she is B cup at most.

    89-60-89 (EU) (35-24-35)
Nearly same thing happens again to Bar Refaeli. Can you explain this?
Maybe the methods which those calculators are using are not valid anymore. I know bra sizes can change according to bra types.I have several of them except for sports bras and I have a 34D bra which suits me well.

I worked at Victoria's Secret for a year and a half. The best way to get your measurements at home is by taking a tape measure and wrapping it around yourself, making sure that your measure from where the band goes on your back (a little less then halfway down your back is where the bra band should sit) and up over your breast. This will give you the band size, so if it reads 34in then your band is a 34. Now, for the cup size, wrap the tape measure around yourself making sure the tape measure is going over the nipple (or as close as possible to where the nipple should be) so that you end with the tape measure against your sternum/breastbone.

So I know this may be confusing but bear with me, the best way I can help visualize this for you is when measuring the band imagine a capitalized D wrapped around you with the rounded part coming up above the breast and for the cup imagine a capitilized B with the two humps going right over the nipple.

Now lets say that this measures at 38in, you would be a 34D, 38(cup)-34(band)=4inches, each in represents a cup size. So 34(band)-37(cup)=3 inches. 1in=A, 2in=B, 3in=C, 4in=D and so on. Now this is very important, make sure you do not wear a push up bra or a sports bra, but just a regular bra. These will alter your actual measurents. I hope this helped rather then being confusing, otherwise the ladies at VS are more then happy to give your measurements. Let me know if anything here can be more clearly stated.

heatherswar: have a problem with measuring also. Victoria Secret always tells me I'm an A cup but then I have alot of extra space still in there A cup like I don't fill it out, is that normal?

What is your band size and how does that feel? The extra space can be contributing from the band, if it is to big that can also create the caps in the cup size. Sometimes that extra space can be normal depending on the bra that you also try on. For example, Im a 34D in most all my bras but in the VS Michelle demi, I have to wear a 34C. Also it is hard to find the right bra for every person, VS is pretty vain so they don't always cater to women in your situation or people at the opposite end of the spectrum from you. Look for İntimissimi if they still have it. If they do, that bra is good for women who are petite all around. Im not sure if all VS are like this but at ours we have a bra wardrobe so you can try on all of them on to see what fits best.

I hope this helps, if you have any other questions just let me know.
