RESEARCHERS have uncovered the top 20 tricks women use to make themselves feel seductive.

And it seems the oldest methods are the best – including lipstick with matching nail varnish and an alluring hint of cleavage.

Interestingly, a simple spray of favourite perfume comes top of the list for helping women feel sexy. A new hairdo and a happy smile also rank highly.

Women also hailed settling down into a warm bath, showing off their well-maintained legs and wearing a push-up bra as quick fixes for achieving the “it” factor.

The report also revealed that the average woman only feels truly irresistible once a week – usually on a Saturday night.

Sara Wolverson of Superdrug, which commissioned the research, said: “This poll clearly indicates that while women know exactly what they have to do in order to feel sexy, they obviously aren’t doing it often enough.

“Maintaining a beautiful, polished appearance can take time – something most busy women don’t have enough of.

With a little bit of effort...ladies can feel confident and incredible.

“But with a little bit of effort, such as a splash of scent, a pair of fluttering false lashes and a big smile, ladies can feel confident and incredible.”

The study of 2,000 women found more than half of those polled reckon a simple spritz of perfume was all it took to make them feel special.

More than one third said a new hair colour or highlights made them feel sexy.

The poll also revealed that women feel sexier if they spend hours getting ready – with 33 per cent preferring to indulge in a hot bath before applying any make-up. Other contributors to a sexy look include waxing, applying an all-over fake tan and straightening or curling hair.

The average single girl spends 38 minutes preparing for a date – but just 10 minutes getting ready for a day at work.

However, the effort to look amazing pays off for many – as an incredible six in 10 women claim that at some point in their life a stranger has told them they look sexy.

Kind of funny, but I read an article the other week in which there was a poll. A majority of men thought that the best way a woman looked is in blue jeans, a white tank top (wife beater style, nothing frilly), hair pulled up in a pony tail with flip flops or sneakers. They said it makes a woman seem more real and not like she's doing things (like the above) to make herself be noticed. Letting her natural, casual beauty speak for herself.

As a male, I like 'em both ways. Don't know about the fake lashes but 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 15, 19, 20 are all nice!

There is something "down to earth" or naturally sexy about a female in a nice fitting pair of jeans, flip flops, hair back and a nice form fitting top too.

Most of the things mentioned above would not make me feel sexy. I feel the sexiest when I've just taken a shower and am wearing nothing but a short terry cloth robe.

1) Many women smell great without perfume, and perfume can actually be overpowering. Like with makeup, it's easy to suffocate the natural beauty, though with perfume, aromatic rather than visual.

2) Yes, that is sexy, though a woman should not fake happiness if she is not happy. She's entitled to anger and sadness like everyone else.

3) Makes no difference.

4) Makes no difference. If she personally prefers it, that's one thing, but black and brown hair is just as beautiful as blond hair.

5) What's wrong with curls?

6) Can't complain about cleavage, though if she doesn't have enough to show, that's fine too.

7) Makes no difference, but if she feels sexier because of it, then go for it.

8) Can't complain about legs either.

9) Throw it in the trash.

10) Makes no difference, as long as her toe nails don't double as a can opener.

I don't do most of those things, and I don't feel any less sexy. Of those few things on that list I do sometimes, it's because I feel like it, it's not to impress anyone.

seductive......To seduce......

Let's honestly look generation, would a young man all of about 17 or so with hormones going mental like all of the above, would she be able to seduce him with all of the above? Honestly, most see it as "expensive", she's going to be wanting loads of up-keep money...

And, 20's, same thing and 30's same thing and 40's mutton dressed up as lamb

I think young girls "think" that all this pruning will make them look "seductive" but

Smokey eyes - seductive
Light gloss lips - a natural look against the smokey eyes - seductive
A long to the ankle skirt flowing with one side showing alot of leg the other fully covered as you walk - seductive
Just got out of bed hair but tamed - seductive

Push up bras? With the right outfit, is seductive - with the wrong out fit say, short skirt as well, not seductive....

Men like ladies of any age to look after themselves but have a feminie side, a girly side, and a seductive side, all in one package in my opinion......

The one that does it the most for me is # 2 as long as it is genuine.

Others that I like are # 8 and # 19. If I like the perfume and it is in moderation # 1 also works.

Most of those things would not work for me as they go completely out of my character. I do not wear make up or doll myself up because I choose not to, so gobbing my face up with fake lashes, fake tan, and thick makeup would make anyone immediately think I am putting on an act and not being genuine....which would be absolutely without a doubt true. If I were to put myself into a very short very tight dress with dolled up hair with thick make up I would feel fake and very uncomfortable because it is not my style. Same applies to clothing, I do not go flashing anything to anyone or look for attention so a mini skirt...all I think is a club hoochie (I really do not mean to offend anyone it is just how I would see myself if I were to ever put one on since I really do not like them to begin with).

The only time I feel truly 'sexy' is if I am in lingerie. Other times I am simply wanting to feel good, so I may paint my nails or put on some perfume. But my main goal is to not look sexy. If my bf says I look good then great, much appreciated, but it is simply not my style or intention to be wearing short clothing or doll myself up with poofy hair. I am a simply girl with simple tastes, I do not need to fill my face up with tons of make up or wear revealing clothes to feel good.
