    Default Nose Piercing

I'm really considering getting my nose pierced, but I have some questions. Do any of you have or know someone with a nose piercing that could answer my questions? Thanks!

    1) How do they do it? I saw on youtube they put some cork in your nose and then a long metal rod through your nose and the cork. Another one I saw (and remembered how I got my ears pierced when I was a kid) was they use a gun.
    2) Does it hurt?
    3) Where do you get it done? I saw on youtube people getting piercings at the doctor's, a piercing place and from what I remember when I got my ears pierced, Claire's.
    4) How do you put a nose ring in? Does it have clasps like earrings?

    I'm sure I'll have more.

    1) they don't use a gun that's for sure. It's just like a Big Needle they insert nd then they put the cork on the bottom so it won't poke u and that's while they get the nose ring.
    2) Any piercing hurts, its like a pinch n that's all though. I recommend you close ur eyes and breathe in before they insert the needle and by the time u breathe out its all over. It's really quick.
3)umm I've never seen at a doctors office. I get all my piercings done at a tattoo shop(I have nose, belly, and lip..of course ears also)
    4) no clasps at all. I've seen two different kinds. One is shaped like a L and that prevents it from walking out, although it will when your sleeping. The second which is what I prefer is just straight and has a tiny ball at the end which prevents it from falling.
    Hope this helps

    Hello!
I have had my nose pierced for several years now & also I do piercing and have done tons of nose piercings. My nose was pierced with a clamp & a needle (the bar you are referring to is a hollow needle) this is also how I do my piercings. They will mark the spot where the piercing will go, then clamp your nose for better control, then they will put the needle through your nose. The needle is hollow & is a size larger than the jewelry (this is called "gauge" the higher the number, the smaller the gauge) so if your jewelry is 18gauge, the needle is 16g & that way the jewelry fits right in the end of the needle, so when the needle is pulled through your nose the jewelry goes right in after it. There are all types of jewelry, a piercing shop will generally give you a curved barbell, that will look like an L or something similar with twists so it won't pull out of your nose if it snags on your washcloth or something. The initial piercing will hurt but it's no worse than a shot at the doctor & it's very fast. If you clean it & take care of it you shouldn't have any problems with it. I hope this helps!

Hey there, Ive had my nose pierced since I was 13. I just did it myself though. The one thing that sucks about getting it done, is the LAST layer of skin...makes your eyes water, but other than that, it really doesnt hurt.
I get all of my piercings done at a tattoo shop too! I wear a hoop in my nose, because the ball studs never stay in, and the L hooks bug me.

Just watch out...my nose ring freezes to the inside of my nose in super cold temps...and that sucks

Thank you everyone! How long is the healing process and what do I do?

I'm getting it done in March because that is when I'll be home from school. I'm getting it at the same place I got my tattoo because I trusted them with being safe when they did my tattoo.

I don't have my nose pierced but my friend does. I remember seeing her nose ring and it's like a spiral and she twists it into her nose piercing.

Also I heard nose piercings can cause scarring. Is there a way to prevent this?

My sister has a nose piercing and has had it for more than 10 years, she says she won't take it out because it looks like a giant pimple scar on her nose. I don't know if this is normal or if she is just overstating how it looks.
