I need some major help!
I have an ingrown toenail on my right big toe. It's not swollen, red, or anything but it hurts like heck. I can't even wear shoes because it hurts. I don't know how to make it better. I put neosporin on it every night but its not getting better. Any help please! |

Seems they are unavoidable. I always keep mine short and filed and still it happens every so often. The only thing long toenails are good for is snagging pantyhose

Soak it in Epsom salts and warm water for 10-15 minutes nightly. File your nails straight across. If it continues to hurt, go to a Dr.

Unfortunately you need to go see a foot doctor. My lil brother had 1 and we tried all the usual at home remedies, but when it got to the point where he couldn't wear his shoes I took him to the foot doctor. Depending where you are it can be costly, but hey you'll have ur normal toe back and they will certainly take care of it. Don't put it off tho because you could have that infection travel through out your body. Not trying to scare you, but I saw what my brother went through. Good luck!

I dated a guy who suffered from ingrown toenails frequently. He had two minor "surgeries" to remove them and he seemed really happy with the results. Definitely talk to a doctor about it.

With a large finger nail file, file down the top surface of the nail, from the tip, back to the cuticle, where it makes the sharp bend down into the flesh - the 'spine' I call it. File it down until the curvature of nail seems uniform from side to side. This takes a fair amount of time and elbow grease. This will make the nail much more flexible and not so prone to driven into the flesh by the pressure of standing, walking, etc.
I had ingrowns on both big toes for 18 months. 36 hours after doing this, all discomfort was gone, and six months later, there just fine and I've not had to file them down since. |

OMG i had the same problem a few years ago,, except it was on my left big toe,, it got infected,, and then i had to go to the hospital,, and have half the nail removed,,, b careful with it,, my toe still isnt the same,, i guess it did nerve damage bc that spot is still so sensative, and its bout 3 or 4 years later,, ,, so b careful,, deff soak urfoot in epsom salt,, in hot water,, it helps,, um try and keep it filed across,, dont make any turns,, if it gets worse i would deff tell u to go to a doctor,, bc ugh,, such a pain,, sorry to hear bout ur toe ,, hope it feels better

I believe that is the result of not cutting your toenails frequently. It's important to keep your nails not too long as that's the cause to make nail ingrown. I would work at it with a nailcutter and file until it's gone, soak in warm water and from there always cut your toenails frequently.
I always keep my toenails short because it looks better that way when I put polish on and it feels cleaner. I take care of my nails frequently everyweek. Sounds like you need a serious manicure too. |
