Default smokey eye look

i always try to achieve the smokey eye but It never comes out right..i guess i could be using the wrong kinds of eye make up...any suggestions or makeup brands that would do the trick?

Use any black eye pencil and trace your eyes as close to the lash line as possible, but put it on thick... then use a Qtip and smudge it a bit... if you want you can add eyeshadow, keeping it directly ontop of the liner (always use a sponge applicator since it's easier, and tap it so that the excess powder comes off). Place a medium color in the crease of your eye (the middle of the crease towards the outside of your face) and use the lightest color on the rest of the lid.. white or a touch of sparkle right on the brow-bone will make your eyes pop more.... and always define your brows!

Remember that if you play up you're eyes, play down your lips. Use a nude lipstick with some gloss!

Hope that helps!

I had the same issue! I googled it a while back ago and found a great video tutorial on youtube. The video gave me a place to start and the basics for it, but I found what works for me. I played around with the make up I had and bought an angled brush from MAC and some black eyeshadow, some under wear eye shadow from Orgins and I've perfected the look!

I think the best is to read up on steps and see what works best for you. There are a lot of different types of "smokey eyes" and a lot of information out there on how to achieve it.

Are you talking about the Barry M one ...yes i use their products ...some great colours, lipsticks are kiss proof and anything else proof !

The smokey eyed look !! yes its great ..you can really transform your eyes with this, its the only look i like ... So i would start when you apply your base/foundation also apply over your eye lids to brows ect or there are special bases for the eyes ...then set with a little powder ...gives the shadow something to adhere to ..
One thing i would rec is good quality brushes ...several sorts for blending shadow , as this look the key to getting it right is blend, blend and blend ...i line my eyes with pencil a dark colour , set the liner with a waterproof sealer just using a fine brush dip in the fluid and line it ...then go over that line with a darker chocolate shadow smudge a bit and again place on the sealer ....also just smudge undr the lower lash liner in outer corners with same colour ...

if you start in the inner corner i use a tiny bit of white shadow to open up the eye , then in a neutral colour , bone, sand or stone colour apply that . If you have three colours in a set apply the lightest bto darkest . on the outer corner of the eyes up to the beginning of the browbone and in the crease place the darkest one ...the key is Blending all the colours so no harsh lines or you carnt tell where your applying diff colours . When youve finished , on your browbone just under the eyebrow apply highlighter ...as you get more confident with trying this you can use more colours ..i often but a tiny blob from a q tip in th centre of eye lid on top of the other to just give the look a zing .... Dont forget eyelash curlers ...they are so important ...i will use them several times when the look is finished (too hard before as i prefer really sky high long lashes )a great mascara, eye lash comb and a separate mscara of "build up" fibres you brush your normal mascara over that it lengthens lashes ...I use temptu beauty mark (temp tatt ink ) to make a nice little beauty mark mear my eye on highest point of my cheekbone .

Lipstick ...apply base over lips . powder and use a sealer ....

I use all Brands Elizabeth Arden , Lancome, Chanel YSL, great for touche eclat clinique ...lots of different brands ,...barry M and sometimes Avon some of the mascaras better than i thought they would be ...long Brushes ...
