I was in the same situation. I got them anyways. Never can be too careful when it comes to cervical cancer! Been there, done that, don't want to do it again!![]()
So im aware that women are the ones that get hpv and men are the carriers. i was just wondering if im only with one person and we are both clean from diseases and such, if it is still necessary to get the gardisil shots?

Forbes considers the company that manufactures it a bad investment because they don't see conclusive proof that the vacine is safe and useful. It only addresses 3 of the 15 viruses that can cause HpV. You have to weigh the pro and cons for yourself and your situation,, personally I'm giving it a miss for myself and my daughter.
Ya, there are a zillion strains of HPV and the shot is only good for a cpl of them. Plus, it's a new vaccine - one that we really don't know about long-term side effects, etc.

HPV is a big deal bc no matter how healthy you are. Cancer is a scary thing when it comes to cervical cancer- the symptoms are so light you don't go to the doc until it gets really bad and by then it's just too late.
Side bar: make sure you sit down and hang out for a while in the office after your shot bc it may make you feel like puking and or passing out (at least for me!) It's like a series of three shots too...fun stuff.
The point is even if u get the shot u can still get cervical cancer. The shot does not protect against over 100 strains of HPV - only a couple of the strains. Plus, u can have cervical cancer without having HPV.
I've had cervical cancer twice and it simply is not true that it's really bad and too late until u know. Both times, mine was caught on my pap smear. Your BEST protection against cervical cancer is getting your yearly pap.
To each his own. It's your decision. Everyone feels differently about the shot.

I wouldn't personally get it...not enough info about whether or not it is truly safe. As for your question about you and bf being clean from diseases...HPV is not necessarily an std...so its always good to get your yearly paps done regardless of whether or not you have had the same partner for a while... HPV can infect you anyways.
