stay away from foods with alot of sodium....Such as butter,fried foods,chips,and do not eat alot of sweets.
I was recently rushed to the emergency room, I thought I was having a heart attack (mind you, I'm only 30), I was scarred to death. The outcome was I had an anxiety attack due to my blood pressure sky rocketing to 198/156, docs say it should be about 120/70. My heart rate was also high. I was given a prescription & a list of foods not to eat ( all of which are my favorite). I was just wondering if anyone had any diet suggestions or easy meals. I really want to take care of myself & I don't want to every be in that situation again. Any help or advise would be great.

* Use up at least as many calories as you take in.
* Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity on most, if not all, days. To lose weight, do enough activity to use up more calories than you eat every day.
* Eat a diet rich in vegetables and fruits.
* Choose whole-grain, high-fiber foods.
* Eat fish at least twice a week.
* Limit how much saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol you eat.
* Select fat-free, 1 percent fat, and low-fat dairy products..
* Cut back on foods containing partially hydrogenated vegetable oils to reduce trans fat in your diet.
* Cut back on beverages and foods high in calories and low in nutrition, such as soft drinks and foods with added sugar.
* Choose and prepare foods with little or no salt.
* If you drink alcohol, drink in moderation.
This information is for a Healthy Heart Diet that I obtained from the American Heart Association. This guideline is used for reducing high blood pressure and lowering cholesterol. I hope this information helps.

Stay as far away from salt/sodium. Garlic is very good for high blood pressure, cook with lots of garlic.
