okay so i've had, since i can remember, since i was ab out 11 or 12- im 17 now. odd vaginal discharge, sometimes is thick, like cottage cheese, sometimes its yellowish geen, sometimes clear, sometimes white. but EVERYDAY, i always have to wear panty liners, is quite embarassing. it smells, for a lack of a better word when a girl comes (not sure the spelling)and some days fishy" as they put it . yes i am now sexually active, but only became at age 17- so its not an STD - i've only recently realized when around my friends that its not normal. what could be wrong with me? do u think it stil could be a disease of some sort?

Have you been going for your regular PAP tests? If So what was the out come?
I have heard of some women having a higher than usual yeast count, meaning their bodies make more yeast, then average. I have a friend who is the same way.
Perhaps it is time to sit down with your gyno. and have a talk so he/she can either resolve this or help deal with it.
mean while if I were you, I would switch to cotton under garnments(breathable) thus allowing that area to breath, as apposed to nylons and man made materials, also, if you are able to sleep bottomless through the night, long nighty, towel under your bottom, as to let the area breath as well. These are all things to try in the mean time, but you should make your appointment with your doctor/Gyn. ASAP. With so many types of cancers these days, it can be caught so early, resulting in prevention, And I would hate to see it go further if it could have been prevented.
Paps are Sooo important! Call them today!!
    Wishing you the best!

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here and guess that at 17 (like me) you dont have a Gyno!
Do some research on it! Discharge is pretty much your vagina keeping its self clean, removing anything that could possibly bring about infection.

I didn't know much about it last year so I went to the doctors and had a smear test... thinking there was something wrong with me but all was fine!

Keep yourself thoroughly clean and that should help with the smell.
Your diet could have something to do with the smell too...things like junk food etc

As i said it could just be a normal bodily function...But if your worried about it definately get checked out. Doesn't hurt to be safe

A friend told me in confidence how she deals with it (but as this is an anonymous site i dont suppose it would hurt sharing...) when she's in the shower she'll gently 'scoop' as much out with her finger as she can...just helps her feel more clean and stops her feeling damp down there

I'd say this was normal except for the "fishy" odor which is associated with bacterial vaginosis. That's not an STD. Like yeast, it's caused by an overgrowth of naturally occuring bateria in your body - it means something is out of balance. A doctor can easily tell if you have this. Their solution will be antibiotics which may cause a yeast infection so start taking acidophilous and bifidous and eating plenty of yogurt.

It sounds like a yeast infection, but best to make sure before you start treating it.
At pretty much any drugstore, grocery store, or Walmart, you can get a screening kit that tests for non-STD problems with your vagina. I don't know how much it costs, but probably less than seeing a doctor (if you don't have insurance.) Once you know if something is wrong, you can know how to treat it.
As shweedart pointed out, some discharge is perfectly normal. But the cottage cheese consistency you mentioned on top of the smell points towards a problem. I hope you find a solution.
