you can cut them in half, that is not the same as crushing, otherwise try taking it with food? Like chewing then slipping it in and swallowing it with your food. What exactly is your concern regarding swallowing large pills?
Hi there.
i have a real phobia about swallowing pills that are big. i normally have to crush them up first!
But my problem is that i have been give azithromycin to treat chlamydia and i have to take 4 (fair size) tablets. how on earth am i going to do it???? its says not to crush them!!!!!
I know this a silly problem but i know its going to panic me when i come to take them later!!
Any one got any ideas to help??!!!
cheers!!

I have the same problem. If I cant crush them, I chew them with food. I always ask the doctor if they have it in liquid form first, then if I dont have a choice I will crush or chew them. I am terrified of swallowing pills so I know how you feel. Hope this helps.

My daughter, fills her mouth with water FIRST then adds the tablet or capsule instead of the other way around. This seems to help her get meds down that would otherwise make her gag.
Tell your doctor you have huge issues swallowing pills and get the liquid suspension. Most meds can come in liquid. It's just not done often and sometimes causes some pharmacy confusion. I had to always point out that one of my prescriptions was suppose to be liquid since most didn't know it could come that way and had to look up how to mix it.
I've always had issues swallowing pills. Most meds definitely do come in liquid form (just be prepared for the "taste") I think for most prescriptions if the liquid is not already flavored you can have the pharmacist do so for free. Good luck
