Hi I am the new person on the block.
I have been having bowel problems all my life, extreem pains, change in bowel habits, my father has had polyps, and intestine removed (in his 60's) my son has bowel problems. I am a prime candidate for IBS/Crohn's.
I have had numerous symptoms, (becoming so bad I have had to miss alot of work in the last 2 months)
Everytime I have a symptom that I think might be related to bowel problems, I google it, and it keeps taking me to sites about Chrohn's/IBS.
My doctor is treating me for IBS (has given my 'Mucillium powder, and wrote me a perscription to try for 2 weeks)because she said it could take up to a year or more (where I live)to be seen by a gastrologist, and get a colonoscopy.
There are days I cannot even stand up straight, the pain is so bad,(below my belly button)
I am only 33, and I have pain in my hips down my leg and pain in my knee, I asume it feels much like arthritis :S As well as Alot more annoying symptoms..
I feel as though I am spiraling down into some sort of depression.
1)I wanted to ask any of you who have been diagnosed for all your symptoms leading up to your diagnosis, and or after diagnosis. It can be either that of IBS or crohn's, as I hope it may give me some sort of direction, in changing my diet/life style to limit these symptoms.
2)Also I have looked for an online printable checklist to fill out and take to my doctor, in hopes that it might classify me as high importance, as I feel at this point my job/career is at risk as well as my whole well being.
I should mention I had blood test to rule out liver/gall bladder/cell count, which all came back normal. However my urine tests turned out that I was dehydrated, which to me seems impossible, I have been known to drink, 4+litres of water per day.
Don't feel you can't be descriptive with the "scoop on poop" Any advice you can give me will be so much appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
IBS, "irritable bowel syndrome", is very common..
It's basically, in my opinion a huge stress related incident occurs and as a result it effects your stomach, and makes it weak...
Some foods can effect it, such as dairy, butter, eggs, milk, chilli, spicy foods, large amounts of meat, alcohol, coffee..
It is different for everyone and it has been a known fact that a diet entailiing, lean chicken, tuna, fish, no more than 200gms of meat and not often per week, lots of green vegetables, salads and water, releaves it immensely.
Your body can't handle some foods, so your tummy bloats, pain starts below the belly button, you can be constipated or the reverse and feel week, almost pregnant.
So first of change your diet and write the foods down for a month that you are eating and how you felt that day, so you can oliminate what helps trigger it.
Start walking even if it's around the house fast, more often, to also help relieve the stress, or mediate, start getting in tune with your body.
As for the other symptons that sounds more like nerves being caught, down your leg, which movement of your body can help and this area you may need to check.
