Hi! I am currently suffering from a severe case of herpes around my mouth. It is terrible. The skin around the top of my upper lip is also involved and my bottom lip as well. It started off that I felt cold sores coming in the corners of my mouth (itching, tingling, etc) and started applying cream then. I already take L-lysine tablets and apply zovirax and use blistex as preventative measure, but nothing seems to be working. I used to just get the occasional one come up as one bump, then blister etc, but the last few episodes (since I was pregnant 18 months ago) is more like a rash with many bumps. Has anyone else out there experienced anything like this before? Any answers? I know there is acyclovir tablets but not sure if you can take these while breastfeeding. Please reply - I'm really depressed as just keep getting this problem.

Hi....it sounds like you have shingles. A friend of mine got this a few months after she gave birth. I dont remember if it was around her mouth area but I now she had it. You should go to the doctor and get a prescription for Valtrex.

I had shingles last year and it was because I went through a few weeks of immense stress, so maybe the new stress you have because of the baby is causing you to break out.

I had to take valtrex for 2 weeks and I used zovirax as well. It was on my left hip and I was really depressed because of it. Dont touch the area too much and dont over medicate it with different things. Go to the doc and get a prescription. It will clear up in no time.

Hi, I recently have also been through the same thing. For me using ice the minute I felt the tingling helped a lot also Lysine capsules and Super Lysine ointment. Visit your local Health Food store they seem to have a multitude of remedies. After the blister opens stop with the ice and brew yourself a cup of tea using the warm teabags against the blisters. The tannic acid will dry out the blisters. Also boost your immune system with regular multivitamins since this may very well have been brought on being run down.

. Herpes is contagious even while you're asymptomatic.

If you honestly believe you cured yourself through meditation, you need to go to your doctor ASAP and get some bloodwork done and some tests run.
If your doctor agrees that you're cured, congratulations!
If not, YOU STILL HAVE HERPES AND NEED TO BE CAREFUL ABOUT SPREADING IT TO OTHERS.

[QUOTE=BermudaGrl;80887]Hi....it sounds like you have shingles. QUOTE]

Beg to differ. Have had shingles twice, on my face, came close to getting in the optic nerve which could have left both eyes blind. As it is I've had trouble with glare ever since the first incidence. I didn't know what it was and thought at first that I must be having some sort of odd allergic response.

Unless it's on only one side it isn't shingles. Shingles literally draws a line, down the center, fine on one side, itchy, pustles on the other side. It is the distinguishing feature of shingles. If it's on both sides, it's something else.

Aside from allergy, pretty much all skin erruptions are a type of herpes, there seem to be a zillion. But IF you get a red line down the center of your face, maybe a feeling of burning or tingling along it and break out on one side only, get into a doctor because if it gets into the optic nerve, it will travel over and take the sight in both eyes. It can strike any part or either side of the body b ut if you get this on your face, See A Doctor! It's not something to mess around with, you need to start anti virals immediately and see an eye specialist.

Once you've had shingles it is unmistakable, it feels different than other types of break outs or an allergic reaction. If I get the tell tale tingle I immediately take chocolate (sob) and nuts out of my diet and start heavy doses of l-lysine to head it off.

I honestly believe that a VEGAN diet can cure these viruses. I have had this problem for quite some time now and since going vegan it has only been better. I have had multiple sexual partners and I don't know of anyone who has got this virus from me, so thank you but Im going to keep doing what I know is right.

I agree with Wild Child, it doesn't sound like shingles. It sounds like herpes. A particularly nasty case of cold sores that just continued to spread. I suffer horribly with cold sores and have found the only thing that works is Valtrex. Go to your doctor and ask for a script, it will clear your mouth up for you fairly quickly.

Also no harm to ask for a repeat prescription and take them as soon as you feel the tingle next time, it will decrease the level of outbreak.
