    Default Underactive thyroid?

I have been having weird symptoms lately. I would say this has been going on for over a year. It started when I noticed my hair was thinning. I've always had thick hair. Some of my other symptoms include:

*Dry patches on my stomach. Very dry skin patches, they are huge and red.
    *Dry skin all together
    *Thinning hair.
*Very fatigued. I feel drugged every morning, and I'm not taking anything before bed (like sleeping pills).
*Weight gain. I've probably gained about 20 pounds in the last year, and nothing has changed. My eating habits have actually gotten better.
*Finally, my menstrual cycle has been VERY off. I have never in my life had such problems. I've always had a heavy cycle, with painful cramps for the first day or two, but this is not right. Last fall, I went 3 months without a period. I wasn't pregnant, I took tests constantly. It did come eventually. I had a few normal periods, then it's back to being off. I was almost 50 days late on my last period. I'm on my period now, and it's actually 6 or 7 days early.

I am trying to get into a doctor, but it's hard because I don't have medical insurance right now. If anyone has any advice I'd greatly appreciate it. Does it sound like an underactive thyroid? My mom and husband think so.

Yes, it does sound like you have an underactive thyroid to me. Do you do much exercise?

I'm not as active as I'd like to be, but that's mostly due to my low energy level. I just don't have the energy to exercise right now.

I can understand that totally. Is there absolutely no way you can get in to see a doctor at all? as this would determine your thyroid problem and once something is found they can start you on medication which will make you feel a lot better. I mean it may not be a thyroid problem I am no doctor but all your symptoms do match up to having an underactive thyroid.
