I've never had a UTI before but since being sick, i've had the horrible urgency to pee literally every 10 minutes (as if my bladder wasn't already an issue) and it like burns after and feels like more might come out but still hurts.

I looked online for symptoms and that's what it said the symptoms were but i don't have insurance so i can't go to the doctor and my free clinic was full today and they don't open again till Monday.

Is there anything i can do? I dunno why, but i think i heard somewhere that lots of water and cranberry juice helps. Any advice?

I have suffered from chronic UTIs for 20 years. Pushing the fluids will help eventually, but one way to alleviate the symptoms more quickly is with a hot bath. This help to relax everything and has never failed me.

As for the fluids, cranberry juice is good for the urinary tract, but any non-caffeinated fluids will work.

    Hope you feel better soon.

I went through a 4 month phase of repeated UTIs a while back - actually nearly 15 years back, my how time flies! moremath is right, lots of liquids, but not caffeine and not alcohol. You need to give yourself something to pee and also the action of peeing can help flush the infection out, or at least make it feel a bit better til you can get somewhere that can give you antibiotics (which you may need if it persists).

I found drinking very weak tea (there is caffeine in tea, so weak is best), large quantities of herbal tea, hot water with lemon juice in it, cold water and cranberry juice kept my fluid intake varied enough that I didn't get too bored of the same thing over and over.

You may find you can get comfy again with just liquids but be aware that the infection may only recede, not go completely, and could come back in a few days, a week - might be best to go along to the clinic on Monday even if you are feeling better.

I hope you don't have too uncomfortable a weekend.

I thank you both for your advice.

I have been drinking lots of water and cranberry juice but i'm mixing the CB with water because it's a little too tart for me.. Is that okay? I know you said to mix it with apple juice but i don't have any.. Is CranGrape an okay substitute?

I am about to go to the Wal-Greens clinic in my area, luckily my dad suggested it. I am hoping it is a UTI and i can get antibiotics there and i don't really have to be poked and prodded.. I don't like that, lol.

Another question though: Is cramping in the lower abdominal and lower back common in a UTI? I was up all night tossing and turning in pain, finally waking up my mom. She gave me Excedrin (which has caffeine now that i think of it! Darn.) and gave me her heating pad.. It worked to where i could pass out completely but as soon as i woke up, the pain was back.

I often mixed cranberry juice with water...it helps the juice to last longer. Crangrape will also be fine...really it is the volume of liquid you are wanting right now. I have never experienced cramping in the lower abdomen and back with a UTI. They should be able to diagnose a UTI with a simple urine sample and look at how numerous the white blood cells are in the sample. If they do prescribe antibiotics be sure to take them all even if you start to feel better. The most common ones that are prescribed are Macrodantin or Bactrum.

I would certainly try a hot bath because that always works wonder for me. Hang in there.

    Red face

Well, i do have a UTI.

I did get prescribed an antibiotic but they gave me 500mg Amoxicillin which is a form of Penicillin.. The NR was going to give me Bactrum but because of the fact i had missed 2 of my birth control pills a month or so back and because she had no idea how to read the 3 pregnancy tests she did, she didn't want to run the risk of not knowing if i was pregnant or not. All in all i'm not though, lol. But the downside to the antibiotics is they chance the effectiveness of my BC so even 3 days after i get done with my script, that risk is still there. That's okay though because as of now, i will not be having sex! Lmao. I love Mark, but ohmigosh this thing has been torture. I need to be uber careful from now on..

My mom has a home remedy book and it had said lots of fluid, vitamin C, hot baths, and all that you guys had mentioned. Thank you again for your advice. I appreciate it.

    Default Another one!?

Okay, so I'm pretty much having the same issues as before with that whole UTI shenanigans.. Constant peeing urge, cramps.. Is it possible to have another one after i (literally) just finished the medicine this past week? I am beyond broke right now and it's not like i could get money from Mark 'cos he's on the verge of no job so i can't go to that clinic thing again. Even my parents can't give me money.
