Unhappy patches of hair loss

in the last 2 mos or so I began to notice alot of hair in the tub after i shower. I didn't think too much of it until I noticed 2 completely bald spots, one on the top and one on the side of my head, both approx 1-1/12". Very depressing. Every time I comb my hair, more and more hairs fall out. Over 25 yrs. ago when i was about 12 or 13 i had similar spots, one was actually over 5" wide in the back of my head. i had gone to a dermatologist, he originally diagnosed it as alopecia areata. He gave me oils to rub in, special tar shampoos and cortisone shot directly in the spots. It was devastating at that age, esp. since my father is completely bald and has been since his late teens/early 20's. After months, the hair did start to grow back; however they said that the diagnosis of alopecia was probably not the problem, but they couldn't give me another reason for the loss. I have recently seen drs and they have no idea. One actually asked me if I was pulling my hair out! How absurd! They told me to wait 4=6 wks and come back if there was no improvement. Well there isn't. I have been taking Biotin and B vitamins, but it doesn't seem to work. My hair is very fine and I got it cut short, which may have helped for a little while, but hair is still clogging the shower. Anyone with similar problem? Any suggestions?

Some Recipes to Make Your Own Hair Loss Treatments :

Mix aloe vera gel with coconut milk and a little wheat germ oil. Use this every two days as a shampoo.

My mother and sister lost hair when their thyroids started malfunctioning. For my sister it was miserable because she had such thick, beautiful hair, and now she had to cut it because of how much hair she was losing.

I would say to get yourself tested for hypothyroid.
