Post Sleep Motivation??

Hi guys

This is probably going to sound pretty weird, but I have trouble motivating myself to go to sleep. Don't get me wrong, I love to sleep, but late at night I can think of so many other things I would much rather do. I then wake up early in the morning for school, and cannot concentrate and learn properly. The problem is, I am one of those people (unfortunately) who cannot survive on hardly any sleep. I always regret going to bed so late at night when I wake up in the morning, but the next night, the problem starts all over again - it is a never-ending cycle. I'm worried that this is affecting my social and academic life (I'm 18, so this is pretty important), but its a compulsion that I have been trying to fix for about 2 years now.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? Thanks

I've had this trouble before. Try and get yourself ready an hour before you plan to go to sleep. Make sure all your lights are off, computers, everything, or, if you need noise, have very soft, relaxing music on very low or a fan on low.

Also, drinking a cup of milk with a teaspoon of ground nutmeg helps. Chamomile tea is also very useful for trying to get to sleep (it's tasty too!). Don't eat anything before going to sleep. You should really stop eating anything around 7pm, because after that point, your body isn't properly breaking the food down, which can lead to heartburn and weight gain (according to my mom). If you do the nutmeg-milk remedy, make sure you are drinking the milk with nothing in your stomach. Milk neutralizes the acids that break down foods in your stomach and can lead to heartburn, which really sucks when you're trying to sleep!

While the nutmeg milk and tea remedies work for me, I am very strange in my sleeping habits. I tend to fall asleep playing Solitaire on my iPod, while listening to old time radio shows. My room has one nightlight (a fish lamp with christmas lights instead of bulbs). I usually fall asleep within an hour.
