So, I tend to get these pins and needles sensations, mainly in my legs and buttocks/lower torso, but sometimes in my wrists, and even my face and ears occasionally. It's not like these parts are asleep; I can still feel them.
I have been putting myself under a lot of stress recently, worrying about classes, schoolwork, and my hypochondria does not help. I am 21 years old, in generally good health (according to my doctor, save for my weight), and I am a Full-time University student. I spend most of my time either sitting in class or sitting at a computer. I have no history of MS in my family (to my knowledge), and as far as I know, my reflexes are all normal. Has anyone ever had these prickly, needly sensations before? |

Thought I'd give more info. I'm so afraid of the tingly feelings being a part of MS, even though I don't have a history of it in my family, and I can reason away most of the issues I have.
Eye pain, pain around eye: sometimes I get either aches or sharp pains on or around my eye. This my be from me staring at them so constantly and excersizing them too much. They are also dry very often (probably from me staring at a computer for three hours or more a day). Tiredness: I am a college student. I go to bed late and get up early, hence why I am tired, but even if I get eight hours, I still get sleepy towards 8 in the evening, but I usually don't rest until midnight. Pins/needles feelings in my lower body/arms/legs, but no numbness: This might be a result of bad posture. At the moment, my back is hunched, my neck is bent, my right leg is hooked up almost indian style with my left draped over it, and my arms are pressed hard against the desk. Just noticed I am also tensing my jaw. Weakness in right arm: Two nights ago, I slept on my right arm so that when I woke up in the morning it was like a lead weight. There was no feeling in it at all and I couldn't move it for about two minutes. I don't have difficulty walking anywhere, and if I bump into something, it's usually because I am not paying attention. I'm so freaked out by it though. I don't think that there's much I can do by way of a doctor, as the health center probably doesn't have anything that can test for MS.... |

there are many tests for MS that they can do. I myself know 2 people living a normal like with MS. One of which is in his med 20's and have now had 3 children since he was diagnosed. But honestly you are freaking yourself out. in your second post you are listing alot of things that really may not be related. Dry eyes, you say from staring at a computer for 3 yrs. Honestly unless you dont bling for that time your eyes should still form tears. I stare at a computer for 8 yrs and i might get bored but my eyes never get dry. I think you should take all of what you are saying and go to a doctor. Tingling is not a good thing. I experience complete numbness in both of my hands sometimes. I found out I have a heart murmur. when my heart beat irregular my hands go numb because its a way of keeping blood flowing to the organs properly. Just get it checked. Anything we say here isn't going to fix the issue.

You are a student, I am a student. We experience fatigue, stress, and general health "issues" like sore eyes from writing 10 page papers. It is normal. That prickly sensation is likely due to a thing called goosebumps. Your clothes rub against the erected hairs, and can feel annoying and prickly like you mentioned. I get it a lot.
Sore arm: You put your entire body weight on your arm and shoulder all night, it is hard not to feel numb after cutting off the blood circulation for that amount of time. MS is a big jump, and very unlikely.

Thank you so much, both of you. I just feel really scared about my health all the time, and this hasn't helped it at all...I'm going to see a therapist today to talk to him about hypochondria and if I can fix myself.
I mean, my doctor said this July that worrying about your health once you get into your 20s is normal, but the way my worries go is definetly not. |
