    Question Sleep anxiety - help!

For the last couple of months I've been having a serious problem sleeping. Whenever I lay down to go to sleep I toss and turn for an excess of 4+ hours. During this time I feel anxious, my pulse seems high, and my stomach feels nauseous. This has never happened to me before, and my life has not changed much in these months (other than me feeling so tired now!!). I am now staying up until 3 or 4 a.m. and getting up at 7 a.m. My exhaustion is not helping me sleep the next night either. I'm inclined against prescription medication, but would love some advice on behavioral remedies or vitamin supplements. I'd also love to know if anyone has even heard of this before. I can't find much of anything online...Thanks so much!!!

I don't get the anxiety with being unable to sleep but I have sleep issues. I also don't want to take meds for it, so up until recently I would suffer through it and get maybe 3-5 hours of sleep.

Try taking a Melatonin supplement. Your body naturally produces this and it is very very mild, comes in 1mg, 3mg and 5mg doses.

The other solution is to find something relaxing to listen to that will help you calm down. I started this a few weeks ago and have had the best nights of sleep in a long long time. Now my only concern is I won't be able to get to sleep without it. LOL - oh well...
