I am a 20 year old female, sexually active with one person who I have been in a relationship with for 3 years. I am on the generic verson of Ortho-Tri Cyclen oral contraceptive, and have been for about 5 months. I have previously been on Ortho-Tri Cyclen-Lo and Yasmin since I was 14 years old.

I had my period about a month ago, and was planning to skip my period because he was coming to visit this past weekend. Anytime I have skipped my period before I have not had any spotting or anything close to it.
About 3 weeks ago I realized I was having heavy, thick discharge while taking the active pills (not on my period), I looked and it was brownish, thick discharge that was so frequent I was having to use a panty liner each day, and after peeing, most of the time that I wipe there is some sort of brownish discharge on the toilet paper.

I have chronic UTI's and I also have high-risk HPV (the one that could lead to cervical cancer, NOT the genital warts one), which I was diagnosed with about two years ago. I have not gotten another HPV test since, but I get a yearly pap and all of my smears have been normal.

My boyfriend came to visit and I hoped that if we had sex I wouldn't have any discharge, since it seemed to be getting a little lighter. Sure enough, though, we started to have sex and I looked down and saw the dark, brownish/reddish blood lightly smeared, but not oozing or anything (I know, graphic, sorry).
So we took a shower, moved on, whatever.
The next day we had sex and after a couple different positions he looked down and said there was "a LOT of blood," so we stopped and showered.

I am planning on calling my gynecologist, who is in my old hometown about 6 hours away, and asking her what she thinks it might be. And I plan on going to an appointment at a gynecologist where I live now to see what the problem is.

But until that happens I wanted to know if anyone on here has had the same kind of experience, or knows of someone who has, and might have some insight into what it could be? I'm anemic, but I'm pretty healthy otherwise and like I said, this has never happened before.
