ok so my fiance has a chronic pinched nerve in the side of his neck into his shoulder. he has had it since thursday morning. and it's been getting worse. i took him to the hospital yesterday morning and the doctor perscribed him 500mg tablets for 10 days of anti inflammatory. and also 100mg of muscle relaxers. he has taken them and yesterday felt no relief at all. he said it actually made the pain worse. so last night i gave him a deep muscle massage with "Bengay" muscle cream. and he fell asleep. this morning he woke up and is still in a bit of pain but he cant walk very well.. and when he does he lists to one side because of the pain.. not sure what to do.. any suggestions?

See a Chiropractor...they get patients with this day in and day out. At home I think you have to use warm compresses so everything relaxes but I really do not remember if you need to use a cold one after a given period of time. Check around on the internet to see if anything comes up regarding that.

I've had a pinched nerve in my neck before, and I think I still have it. I've never had trouble walking from it though. It's insanely maddening, especially when you don't like taking medicine, like me. Massages have helped me a bit, especially when my friend finds a knot in the area of the nerve. It hurts like crazy, but it's so relieving when he works the knot out!
I wish I could help you, but I don't have much advice. Warm compresses/showers, massages, bengay have all helped me. But if it's so bad that he has trouble walking, I would talk with a chiropractor.

A chiropractor or (what I use) an acupuncturist would probably be able to get it under control. Ok I was wondering whether or not to say this especially since you've gone through so much Sunshine but my mother always claimed to have a pinched nerve and at times she had difficulty walking too. I'd advise your fiance to have a full set of blood tests done just to be sure. What we eventually found out was that what my mother had was not a pinched nerve but cancer and she was initially diagnosed at stage 4.
I'm not trying to be an alarmist or cause panic but I now err on the side of caution with regard to anything that just doesn't seem right and doesn't respond well to "normal fixes." I hope he gets some help and feels better soon.
