Exclamation Bleeding From Incision? :(

Hello, I am 16 years old and had an exploratory laparotomy on Oct. 2, 2009 for an ovarian cyst (on my left ovary). I was sealed with surgical glue and everything seemed to be going perfect until at first I noticed the glue peeling a little bit and then this morning I saw a tiny bit of blood coming from a small hole on the left side of the incision. It doesn't hurt at all but of course, I am alarmed since this is my first surgery. I don't really know what to do since I live with my dad and brother and they can't see in incision because it's so close to my private spot, so I'm taking care of this by myself. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them and if it's normal or if I should be worried. Should I put hydrogen peroxide or something on it? I mean, the last thing I want is an infection. As for everything, the wound doesn't hurt and there's no pus or colored drainage coming from it, nor is there any odor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Clean it up and put a bandaid on it. You should be fine. If it gets worse or starts to get red, I'd go in to the Dr. The peeling of the glue may have lifted up a scab or something.

If you are really concerned give the doc a call, talk with her or the nurse practitioner. They can tell you what signs of trouble to look for. But most likely you are fine.

Thank you for the help ladies <3 I called my surgeon and he told me exactly what you did LanaBear . Clean it and put a band-aid on it lol. He also told me if they get bigger or if I get a fever or something to go see him. They don't hurt at all but it looks as though the blood could be coming out with a little bit of pus.

Keep an eye on the puss, it could be a sign of infection.

If it gets red, swollen, warm to the touch, or you start to not feel well (fever like he said). Give him a call.

But for now just keep it dry and clean.
