Cramps in legs - help??
Maybe you could help me? I am 75 years old and am having these really bad cramps in my legs. The cramps are so bad that I can't hardly move and it takes my breath away. The muscles tighten in knots during the cramping. I get them in my feet too and it makes my toes kind of spread out and I can't move them. They last a few seconds to several minutes. I get them about once or twice a day.
I am afraid of medication because a lot of it makes me sick. So I only take Aspirin occassionally.
Any idea why this is happening and what I can do to stop it or at least calm it?

I used to get those daily when I was pregnant with both my kids. My doctor said it was from lack of nutrients in my body, babies tend to take away lots of your daily nutrients. I would suggest taking a look at your nutrition... Another thing it could be as well is dehydration. I can almost guarantee if you pick up your water intake, it will get better.

I suggest that you should engage in some healthy exercise and also maintain a nutritional balance diet.

This could be many many things - I would definitaly go to a doctor and rule out anything dangerous. It might just be arthritis that can be relieved easily!

i sometimes experience leg cramps and my doctor suggested i eat foods with a lot of potassium... like bananas and potatoes. i would also try to increase your fluid intake.
