    Question Planters Wart

I have had a planters wart underneath my foot for a few months now, and I went to see my doctor about it because it was getting extremely sore.

He immediately said that we could use liquid nitrogen to burn it off, and I would have to go back every 2 weeks to get it done until the wart was gone.
I have only been back twice, but about a week after I get it done, the wart goes black, so before I went back the second time, I picked all the black stuff off with a needle, and when I went back the second time, he said that it was good because then he didn't have to clean it out.

The day I got the second dose of liquid nitrogen, I went for a walk and I came home and the wart was bleeding.
Well, it has now been a week since I had the second dose of liquid nitrogen and the wart was black again. So I went and got the needle a few minutes ago, and started removing all the dead black skin off the wart, but it is now bleeding again.
Is this normal? The doctor said that sometimes veins will die within the wart from the liquid nitrogen. Is the blood from the veins?
Has anyone else had this done before?

Those things are awful. I had one once on the side of a finger but had it burnt off all in one session they used a sort of thing like a sodder iron. I still have a little dip in the side of the finger even after over 30 years.

Planters warts can go deep, I'm not surprised it would bleed, just be careful to keep it clean, wear white cotton socks so you don't get dye into your blood stream. You don't want an infection.

Wow, I thought you could only get planters warts on your feet!

Yeah, I don't want an infection. I might strap it up...too hot for socks haha.

My understanding is that warts are a type of HPV - there are hundreds. Like any virus, it can only replicate cells within your cells (viruses really aren't alive because they can't reproduce on their own) Stress can alter your body chemistry to give them a stronghold. Taking L-lysine can help inhibit their growth by creating a less favorable environement in the body. You need 100mg for every 30 pounds of body wieght. I know it really helps for shingles, I only ever had that one wart so I don't know how effective it is for them. But it's inexpensive and falls into the can't hurt, might help catogory, so why not give it a try?

I was told that it's contagious. I just hope I don't get them on my hands now :|
Yeah, mine's black on top, but as I remove the black, it's dark red almost black red.

So this L-lysine is just a tablet that reduces their growth...and may prevent ones occurring in the future?

ugh I had one that covered my entire knuckle on my right middle finger. I had it for about 3 years, each time I went to the doctor she would shake her head and say "it is going to go away don't worry"...boy was I mad. The second I got a new doctor she was shocked that the other doctor said it would "just go away" because it wont. So I got an immediate referral to a dermatologist. She did the liquid nitrogen twice, and then gave me cantharidin which is an extract mixed with salicylic acid that basically dries out the wart. She also gave me an prescription for Imiquimod (Aldara) and that is an immunotherapy cream used to boost cytokine production and ward off the infection from the wart. With the nitrogen, cantharidin, and aldara my wart was completely gone in about a month or so. I still have a bit of a scar but no longer needing to hide my hand is such a relief.

And yes the warts are very contagious. You should be washing your hands more often than not and I would ask to see if you can get the creams because they honestly do work.
