Hi! I have read up a bit on arthritis. I've been having a sort of numbness more than pain (only in one knee), a bit of pain too just now & then esp when I carry heavy stuff. I have had no one in my family with arthritis, I am light in weight & I do alot of walking & I'm 37. Could I have arthritis? Could be embarasing! Is there anything I could do (or excercise) to get rid of it asap???

My mom has arthritis pains, and she takes calcium supplements. It eases her pain somehow.

The best thing to do is take calcium supplements as CAT said... If you see no improvement, go see your doctor and they'll be able to help you with the pain as they will be able to make a proper diagnosis

Yes, I agree with all of the above.
Do you drink a lot of milk?

Thanks girls for your replies & helpful advice! I drink a glass of milk everyday. I really hope it is not what I don't want it to be! Thanks again!

I hear you. I have similar issues.

I had some lactose intolerance a while back and stopped drinking milk. I took the supplements instead. But if I take too much for too long, it will also worsen my situation (bones becoming brittle as I grow older), so I weaned myself slowly. I am drinking milk again, stopped the calcium supplement, still ok.

I could be wrong, but I though arthritis was a mirror thing. Like both knees would hurt.
If you walk a lot it could be that your IT band is tight and pulling on your knee.

Yes, I agree with you, Sourpuss. But as for the knee, it could either be the IT band or something else. Should see a doc for that.

It doesn't necessarily be a mirror effect though.
