I'm getting a blood test for HIV tomorrow at noon. I have no one to go with me for some support. The last thread I made about my symptoms, have just gotten worse and more weird ones are showing up and it's been going now for almost three weeks so at least I'm getting checked out.

And I did take the method of finding a Planned Parenthood place in my area, so thanks to the person who suggested that.

I told two trustworthy friends about this and they said they might be able to go with me, and I didn't ask for anyone to go with, but none have responded and one never answers his phone so guess I'll be doing this alone. Only reason I want someone there is if I pass out... since my blood pressure is low at times.

I just feel very alone currently. I'm not scared at all. Not even about the results, it's the actual test that scares me a bit ... due to my blood pressure problems. I might pass out. Any advice?

...should this be in another forum?

They won't know that you really need someone there unless you actually ask. They might think you've already got someone going with you because you haven't followed up. Call.

I did ask the more close friend of mine, and I have called a few times ... but he just never answers. This is why I question what's the point of a friend who never answers you back.

So I did kinda ask, but it was more a hint that I'd like someone to go with me.

The nurses will be there to give you some juice if you do pass out. If no close friends go with you for whatever reason you can still ask a nurse to be with you, they are really good people.

I remember seven years ago when I got tested after being raped, I turned up negative, or I never really found out, but I don't even remember how the test was. How long do these usually go?

What do you mean how long? The blood test?-a few seconds. The actual lab results? Depends on the method used. Typical standardized tests range from 2-4 weeks again depending on the laboratory method used. There are rapid tests but they do not have as much reliability so they may not be even considered. Your doctor would have discussed or will discuss all the information regarding the test, how long it will take, and how they will deliver the results. One side note though, if you are getting tested for HIV for whatever reason and you a have a SO...you may want to let them know that they should get the test done as well (especially if the results come back positive).
