I think I have this disorder-it is seriously depressing me, and I can't seem to stop having these binges where I'll eat till it hurts. Has anyone been through this? What has helped you? I can't seem to get out of my rut! Help!

HI: I am a newbie here,and will let you know a little about me I am 46 and was diagnosed with compulsive over eating three years ago,also have body dysmor porphic disorder, and the only thing that has helped me was a really good therapist that deals with eating disorders and a nutritional therapist in the same area of expertise. It is hard because nobody really sees it as a eating disorder yet but it is, and you can get help, which can be hard too there is an emotional attachment (?) with food that we really need help with and once you get it, it clicks. But if you can't get help try to slowly identify the feelings that cause you to binge, for me it is first anger, then depression , food and feeling are the keys to watch but I would encourage you to find a eating disorder therapist in your area. there is such a thing as overeaters anonymous. it is a branch of alcoholics anonymous. maybe you will be able to work the program in that sense.
