Pop the advil or tylenol, I think that's about all you can do.
I have to be careful because I tend to grind my teeth, and I have some pain in my jaw quite often due to clenching/grinding...but last night, I fell asleep funny with my head kind of propped up on my hand and my jaw is KILLING me today.... Almot like I have pushed it out of alignment or something...Any thoughts on what I can do? I can't get into the docotr till later on this week...too much going on![]()

There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
Any kind of pain reliever medication should do. Try to break the habit of grinding. Although it can be hard to do if you are like me because I grind in my sleep.
Grinding teeth, do you do that awake or whilst your asleep?
It's very common, but it actually does wear your teeth down and makes them weaker.
If you slept on your hand, you could have slept un-comfortably and therefore, your jaw hurts but it will go away, that happens to me when I get a Chinese Massage
If you do it in your sleep try mouthguards, alot also has to do with stress, so try to de-stress and ween yourself off of doing this...

Like everything in life that's hard to achieve
you must believe!
That sounds like something I have. I have a tendency to grind my teeth. Usually alternating warm and cold compresses helps me, and while I don't take medicine, I'm sure a Motrin or an Advil couldn't hurt.
You could be developing Temporo-Mandibular Joint Disorder, which occurs when the jaw is out of alignment. Sometimes you hear a clicking or grating sound, and it can be pretty painful. I know it sounds weird but very gently stick your pinkie fingers into your ears and push slightly forward (towards the direction you're facing). Open your jaw as much as is comfortable, and then close. If you feel a clicking or popping on the side of your jaw where the pain is, it's likely that your jaw is out of alignment.
You can also ease the pain and reduce the popping by being careful of what you eat and even how you yawn. When you yawn, don't fully open your mouth to do so. Instead, open just partway. It'll feel weird, but my mother swears that helped her. Also, try to avoid chewy and sticky foods like caramels or chewy candies. Those make your jaw work overtime and can increase pain. Also, if you ever catch yourself clenching, STOP. Relax your jaw as best you can and calm down before continuing with your work.
I hope this helps!
Trying to get a hold of myself is really tough! But I'll keep trying.
