The blood test for low iron is cheap and easy. Much better to find out and fix this than to suffer w/ physical and mental symptoms. It's not an uncommon problem w/ women, and not hard or expensive one to fix.

Ok so about 4 years ago I had my tonsils and adnoids taken out and was Diagnosed with low iron anemia. I have always felt really tired and could sleep ALL THE TIME. I had the doctor check me for anemia about 6 months ago and it showed that I was not, but when I looked at the symptoms for low iron I had most of them including extremely tired, headaches, stomach aches, cold hands and feet, and can make dark black marks on my face with my jewelry when it just barely touches my skin. Can I still have low iron even though I was not anemic?? Should I take a supplement?? I'm so tired of being so tired!!!

Do they have any kind of home tests or anything....I desperately hate going to doctors unless I have to![]()
I just saw your post and wanted to say another symptom of anemia is chewing on ice and I did it for a long time before I had a full physical for a school I was to attend years ago. They told me I had anemia and I had no idea. I am not sure if there is any iron suppressants OTC or not you can take and eat more greens and other foods that have lots of iron.

Not having enough iron in your body causes iron-deficiency anemia. Lack of iron usually is due to blood loss, poor diet, or an inability to absorb enough iron from the foods you eat.
The best sources of iron are meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and iron-fortified foods (foods that have iron added). If you don’t eat these foods regularly, or if you don’t take an iron supplement, you’re more likely to get iron-deficiency anemia.
Right I don't know how true this is but it was a Dr who told me, I kept having all the signs of low iron, every blood test said my blood iron levels were fine so my Dr put me on vitamin C. The reason is because you can have iron in your blood but its not being absorbed with other vitamins which include vitamin C. I was told to drink orange juice with my main meals and never have milk with a meal as it can stop your body absorbing the iron. As I said I don't know how true this is, however, it worked for me.
If you are worried i would go back to the dr, there are other condtions that causes the same affects as low iron.
Good Luck

If you're running low on Iron, better have regular intake of Iron supplements and get plenty of sleep. If you are sleep deprived, it also cause anemia.
