There are various reasons for chest pain. Unless you get checked by a doctor, we would not be able to tell since your symptoms are indicative of other issues as well.

Try looking up the following terms in the net: broken or bruised ribs, Pleuritis or pleurisy,Pneumothorax, shingles, pneumonia, angina pectoris, pulmonary embolus, myocardial infarction, pericarditis, aorta and aortic dissection, esophagus and reflux esophagitis or GERD (acid reflux), referred abdominal pain.

Pain can be cause by any structure in the body, extremities included, and various organs can produce different types of pain but unfortunately the pain is not specific to each cause. See a doctor right away so you can prevent worse maladies.

I also asked my godmother about it because shes a nurse at a local hospital and she said it sounds like I pulled a muscle in my chest, because the pain started friday afternoon after I got off work and it started after I bent over to pick up some bottles that fell out of my truck and I wonder if I came up to fast and pulled something

Well if it were something serious like a cardiac event it is likely that you would have been dead already. Embolisms same deal. Angina can lead to heart attacks. Blood pooling in and around the heart = likely dead...so on and so forth. If it only hurts when you lift then your godmother is probably correct in the muscle strain. Pulling a muscle can happen at any time with any movement. The only thing you should really watch is if your breathing goes sporadic and you can feel your heart racing a mile a minute. But things like that would be more than a "oh jeez I feel funny"...it would be you on the floor in pain while other people notice that maybe you need some serious medical attention.

Generally they say if its muscular pain... you should be able to recreate the hurt by yourself (moving your body a certain way to cause it... etc) . Chest pain related to heart attack generally can't be brought on by yourself by moving your arm a certain way etc... though physical exersion may exacerbate it.

Heart attacks could happen to anyone, so chest pain should not be taken lightly however... they are SO UNLIKELY in a young healthy person, not on drugs, not with a history of heart disease or high blood pressure or untreated high cholesterol etc.

Leg injuries, birth control pills and smoking... etc..can cause a blood clot that could lead to a potentially deadly pulmonary embolism which could cause chest pain.

If your pain is continuous and not something that only occurs in certain positions etc... its worth getting checked out, better safe than sorry, especially if you have acompanying symptoms like shortness of breath, sweats, nausea etc...

Anxiety attacks can mimick heart attack symptoms so can some gastro intenstinal conditions.

Make sure to get into a doctor, to make sure your health is good that way you can put your mind at ease.

I had a family member that thought he had hearburn for a week before he went into the Emergency Room, turned out he had been having minor heart attacks all week and if he hadn't gotten in when he finally did he could have had a fatal one. So I guess my position is to not take any kind of chest pain lightly.

Numbness in the jaw would be something completely different. Psychological, general aches and pains of daily life, grinding your teeth, a headache, a sinus infection...the list could go on and on.
