    Angry Unhappy with doctor

I just want some other peoples opinions on this, I am unsure whether im just overreacting a little or my doctor was wrong.

I booked an emergency appointment with my doc this morning and got one straight away. The reason being because I have been feeling really unwell for around 3-4 days. Its hard to explain my symptons, Its really just general ill feeling. I have had headache, hot flushing, sweating, nausea, vomiting and my hands have been even more shaky than they normally are. Yesterday I woke up and vomited within 10 minutes. I took the day off work and took it easy, layed on the sofa and relaxed. I feel a little better today but thought I should go see my doc anyway as I am on Propranolol.

I explained to her that I could have food poisoning of some sort since this feeling began not long after drinking some Cream Soda from the co-operative near us. It tasted like cleaning products and my partner agreed, so he went and changed the glass and it still tasted the same. It smelt a little like bleach tbh. I drank about half a glass and my throat and stomach began to burn around half and hour later.

I also thought it may be because of a lamb shish kebab I had not long after the drink. Or possibly because of a tropical bird bite around 2 weeks ago. (Black Headed Caique). I explained this to my doctor and said I thought it may either be because of my medication or food poisoning, forgot to mention the bird. She then said I could have food poisoning and gave me a prescription. I also mentioned a lump in my left side of my neck about halfway up which I had the last time I saw her and she claimed she could not feel it. She again said she could not feel it?!?
Anyway, she gave me a prescription for Codeine? Its a painkiller? For food poisoning? When i have NO stomach pain?! And told me to take one 4 times a day, There is only 15 tablets? I also asked her for some E45 cream which she put on a seperate prescription. Im annoyed as I have paid £7.20 for a few days of a tablet I do not need?!
She also did nothing at all as to examining me. She didnt check my bp or my pulse? Which she is supposed to do regularly seeing as im on heart medication?? Ive been on this medication for 2-3 months and she hasnt done either once.

Am I just overreacting or is my doctor really this incompetent?! Sorry for rambling folks!

Codeine is mainly given for its analgesic pain relieving capabilities but it can also help with the prevention of diarrhea which is what you do not want when you have food poisoning. You want to retain all your electrolytes and osmotic balances, so even if you are not experiencing that right now you want to prevent it from happening in the first place via codeine.

As for the lump, if it is part of regular anatomy (like the feeling of a vein, or muscle) then the doc will know and not make it a concern.

Thankyou for your reply, The lump is oval shaped and moves around. Ive had it for a couple of months and it gets bigger and smaller?

A fat deposit maybe? Not sure. But if a doctor has no concern about it and does not mention a biopsy or ultrasound then I would imagine everything is a-okay. You could always get a second opinion from another physician.
