I'm currently looking for a primary care MD in Connecticut who will listen to me, interested in what I have to say and not quick to write an Rx for narcotics or antidepressants. Am I just dreaming of something too good or is there anyone out there who has a great PCP?
Ask for a consult, there you just get to talk to the doc and get to know them. If you are depressed lets say then I would avoid a GP and go right to a therapist. Physicians generally have more interest in applying their medical knowledge and expertise in a form of medicine to their patients rather than 'talk medicine' as is the case with therapy. If you are in pain lets say, then yes they will write you a script for mild narcs because they know they work, if you are looking for more of a therapy like sports or physiotherapy then of course take that road. Just keep trying to meet a doc until you find one you like. University grads are out now which means a whole round of new medical students are out there willing to accept new patients and willing to do a great job because they are so excited to actually be a physician now so you could always check that out as well.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
