Hello Ladies...
Just a general question. I haven't been diagnosed with arthritis but wondering if this 'could' be it?
So, I have a physical job and my wrists get used a lot. Surely, this 'usage' could be the cause of my wrist issues. It's not carpal tunnel - as I have no tingling or numbness. It hurts mostly when I bend my wrist down to the full extent. Aches in the middle up towards the top (hand pointing downward). I have consulted the nurse where I work and they always suggest ibuprofen/aleve, icing it often, and I've been wearing a wrist brace at work for the past 2 weeks. Now - I haven't been icing it much. I just haven't had time (and haven't thought about it). I took one aleve twice a day for about a week and it finally started feeling better, and I got off the aleve (the nurse also warns about taking too much). The weird thing is, my other wrist is starting to feel aches in the same spot - just not as bad.
Also, about 3 weeks ago.....I woke up with a really bad neck strain (probably from sleeping on it wrong). However, that was 3 weeks ago and that still aches when I turn my head.
Usually, this type of stuff doesn't last this long.....and with the combination of the 'neck', 'wrist', AND - I my hip often aches while I sleep on the sides. I'm wondering if I'm experiencing some sort of arthritis going on.
I'd like to contact my doctor and see if they can diagnose it as arthritis or not. Ultimately - I don't know if this is something I should further PUSH my employer (workmans comp) or seek my own medical doc for assistance. Sometimes going your own route is a bad thing. I just wanna know whats going on....so I can help prevent it.
Thanks and I know its hard....
If any of you have wrist arthritis....exactly where does it ache/hurt and what should I be looking for?
Arthritis is a swelling of the joint (itis means swelling, like in bursitis, sinusitis....). Research shows that injury can cause some arthritis but also there are genetic causes - nothing you can do to prevent it. If you get it in one spot, often you'll have it in others (ie your neck and hip as you mention).
Best things to do are - be healthy - eat well, low alcohol intake, low caffiene intake - EXERCISE!!, lose weight... Also, for my arthritis (knee and hip) I use home use ultrasound (cuz i HATE taking medication for my arthritis). I have this sonic Relief machine that I use if my arthritis flares up or if I know I'm going to be doing something to cause any increased inflammation. I get out of bed a lot easier having it used it before i go t sleep.
Good luck!
