So at my Doc's I took a blood test for Vitamin D and was found to be pretty low. They put me on Vitamin D2 50,000 units a week for 3 months. Sadly that's what prescription Vitamin D is here in the states. I'm now hearing that D2 is not as good as D3?
I know that it's actually not a vitamin, but a hormone (Too little causes rickets,+, osteomalacia (softening of bones.)
Has anyone been taking D supplements? Have they improved your health/etc?
What type/dose have you been taking?
I will continue to take my prescription but wondering if it won't be as effective?
I'll probably have to take another blood test in 3 months. fun.
Thanks!

“..Passion is the source of our finest moments. The joy of love... the clarity of hatred... and the ecstasy of grief. It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion maybe we'd know some kind of peace... but we would be hollow... Empty rooms shuttered and dank. Without passion we'd be truly dead.” -Joss Whedon
I started taking D3 several months ago and the difference it has made for me is huge. My step mother who is a natural lay healer recomended it and several family members who suffer from SADD swear by it. I don't know the specifics but her research was that the D3 is more readily absorbed and used by our bodies. It took a week or two to get my deficency taken care of so that I noticed a real difference. But I have more energy (I'm pretty energetic as it is but was slumping) and just plain feel better overall. I take 4000IU a day.
