    Question Talking in your sleep

Should you hold someone accountable for what they say when they are sleep??
I've known I talk in my sleep... my SO knows I talk in my sleep... apparently I said another mans name in my sleep and it upset him greatly. I appoligized and did what I could to make him feel better about it but what am I really suppose to do?? We had been talking about this person at least an hour before we went to sleep so I'm sure it was on my mind and I don't doubt I spoke in my sleep but how do I change something that isn't in my control...

It makes perfect sense, if you are talking about something before you go to sleep, often they/it comes into our dreams.

Your mind may not have finished with that conversation, you may have wondered things from that conversation, or simply had nothing to dream about and so the last thing you recall is what comes to your mind...

Why not google, "does our mind dream of what we last spoke of before sleep", different variations and print them off when you find a few that can relate...

He should be jealous or be in-secure if he knows that you love him...

He should also be aware of how powerful the mind is, and that dreams often mean something else that is going on in your life as well.
Do we not realise that in order to find a soul
    It doesn't happen over night
if truth were to be told.

Like everything in life that's hard to achieve
    you must believe!

There is no known reason why dreams occur the way they do, especially the really random nonsense ones. However it is thought that whatever has happened to you during the day or last thought before you fall asleep plays a part in what can appear in your dreams. So just like CW says it makes perfect sense that his name would pop up if you just had a conversation about him earlier in the night. There is no ability to fully control a random occurrence like dreams so you should let your husband know that there is nothing you can do about it cause its not like you are purposely wanting to say his name while you are in the middle of a deep sleep.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
